The Weekly Grub: 5 Things To Eat And Drink In Singapore This Week
PUBLISHED November 27th, 2019 06:30 am
It’s the week to appreciate the winer things in life, thanks to a couple of sumptuous wine-pairing dinners. Lounge back in the island paradise of Sentosa Cove for premium champagne and haute cuisine, or get your fill of funk with a natural wine experience at Ding Dong. If juniper juice is more your poison, there’s also a mysterious Finnish gin making its way to our shores. As for the ice-cream lovers, we’ve got the scoop on some jolly good Christmas treats!
SKIRT x Champagne Collet Brew Up Bubble Trouble
Something sparkling this way comes at SKIRT, as Champagne Collet descends on the Sentosa Cove grillhouse for an indulgent bubbly-pairing dinner. Bubble Trouble (S$140++ for food and champagne; S$110++ for food only) will feature four courses of gastronomic bliss alongside four prestigious Collet cuvées, including the Collet Esprit Couture which debuts exclusively at SKIRT. Savour the iconic Collet Brut Art Déco’s flourishes of sea salt, drawn out by a luscious Chocolate & Egg Yolk Ravioli, and enjoy a hearty Smoked Confit Rabbit balanced with a clean, citrusy glass of Collet Millésime 2008.
Bubble Trouble is available from 29 November to 1 December 2019, 6pm−10pm, at SKIRT, W Singapore – Sentosa Cove, 21 Ocean Way, Singapore 098374, p. +65 6808 7278.
Tënu Gin Launches in Singapore
Tënu Gin is quite the magical elixir. Crafted from rare botanicals found deep in Finland’s pristine Taïga forest then bottled by monks in Heinävesi’s Valamo Monastery Distillery, this juniper juice holds all the dark elegance of the Finnish woodlands. Its upcoming launch in Singapore features two splendid expressions. The Tënu Gin – Forest Blend is a spicy, floral brew distilled with lingonberries, arctic rose petals, and rare aromatic roots. Its counterpart, Le Bon Tikka, boasts tart elements of bilberries and citrus peel, and comes aged in medium-roasted new American oak for a good six months.
Tënu Gin launches in Singapore on 29 November 2019 at beGIN Bar, and will be available at selected bars including Alchemist Beer Lab, Monte Carlo Boys, The Cooperage, Olivia Restaurant & Lounge, and Manhattan Bar.
Creamery Boutique Scoops Up Festive Treats
‘Tis the season for creamy indulgence, and Creamery Boutique’s small-batch premium scoops are definitely on our naughty list. The limited-edition Mont Blanc Ice Cream (S$3.90 per scoop) swirls with sweet chestnuts, rich dark rum, and crushed meringue in a milky base − the perfect white Christmas treat. The cookie monsters among us have lots to scream about too, with the return of the Cranberry Mocha Lava Cookie (S$10.90) oozing with warm mocha lava, as well as the Whisky Chocolate Lava Cookie (S$10.90) laced with Johnnie Walker’s finest.
Creamery Boutique‘s Christmas menu is available from 30 November 2019 to 5 January 2020 at #01-03, 139 Tyrwhitt Rd, Singapore 207557, p. +65 8133 1250.
Ding Dong x Aux Deux Amis Dishes Up Fusion Funk
Flavours get funky with a fusional dinner medley between modern Asian joint Ding Dong and famed Parisian natural wine bistro Aux Deux Amis. For two nights only, Ding Dong’s head chef Miller Mai and ADA chef Matthieu Perez will present a six-course dinner (S$85++, supplementary S$55++ for 4 wine pairings) starring the best flavours from both worlds. Think Asian beurre blanc slicked over Grilled Red Snapper, Braised Beef Cheek spiced with buah keluak sambal, and Chicken Liver with a zing of pickled green papaya. Up your dining experience with a pairing of four natural wines, expertly curated by Eduardo Bayo from Drunken Farmer.
Ding Dong x Aux Deux Amis dinner is available on 27 & 28 November 2019 from 7pm to 10.30pm, at Ding Dong, 115 Amoy St, #01-02, Singapore 069935, p. +65 6557 0189.
Yujin Izakaya Fires Up New Menus
Barely six months after its launch, Yujin Izakaya is firing up a fresh menu of small plates and succulent meats. If you’re planning on post-work sakes here, hot appetisers like Mentaiko Tamagoyaki (S$15) and Kaki Furai or deep-fried oysters (S$11) make for the perfect stomach liner. There’s heartier dinner fare too, with the likes of classic Unagi Don (S$26) and slurp-worthy Somen (S$16) with raw salmon cubes. Since it’s not an izakaya without some imbibing, be sure to drink your fill of their Happy Hour − newly extended from Mondays to Saturdays between 5−8pm. Down unique Yujin concoctions like Black Honey (S$9) and green tea-infused Ryokucha-Hai (S$8), and enjoy 20% off sakes during Happy Hour.
Yujin Izakaya‘s new menu is available at 56 Zion Rd, Singapore 247781, p. +65 6235 0429.
