For the most of us raised with fairytales and fables, the whimsical experience that is 22 Stories is a deep dive into your childhood by having you set foot into a magical world. Running till 30 June 2019, it’s brought to you by ANDSOFORTH Junior, a Singaporean immersive theatre company founded by co-artistic directors Stuart Wee and Emily Png. Unleash your imagination in the 22 experiential rooms based on four themed realms in their carefully constructed space in the heartlands of Pandan Gardens!
Reminisce your childhood days
Embrace your explorative spirit as you journey across the various rooms in the exhibition, with each one dedicated to a particular popular-culture character. Showcasing classic Disney Princesses such as Cinderella and The Little Mermaid (non-affiliated) to folklores like Princess & The Pea, 22 Stories is set to win the hearts of both adults and children alike.
Hop onto the magic carpet as you first soar through Storyland, where you’ll team up alongside Hansel and Gretel to outsmart the deceptive Candy Witch. As you slide down the beanstalk with Jack, you’ll arrive at Wonderland. Be prepared to dive into the rabbit-hole with Alice and encounter the maniacal Queen of Hearts, though don’t worry since the Cheshire Cat and ever-so-reliable Mad Hatter will guide you along.
If you have been desiring to ride on Cinderella’s pumpkin coach, this is your chance as Grimmsneyland is set to fulfil your happily-ever-after. Besides plunging into the sea to assist Ariel in uncovering her lost items, you could be the hero of your own story by preventing Snow White from consuming the poison apple or lifting the curse of Sleeping Beauty. End your journey at Land of Nights, where you’ll eventually bid goodbye to your magic carpet sidekick, and not to forget the genie as well.
Picture-perfect photo moments and fresh meals
Other than attending performances, guests are also provided the opportunity to meet with their favourite characters for photo-taking sessions. Do note that some characters alternate between every odd and even week, though. A resting area, mischievously named Wonder Foodland, is also available if you ever feel restless or famished after rounds of venturing, with meals freshly provided by Farm Appetit.
For those who revel in capturing those perfect shots for their social media feed, you’ll be delighted by the decorative and aesthetic backdrops that encompass the exhibition. Dubbed as an Instagram Museum, this novel concept is the first to make an appearance in the lion city, with Stuart and Emily bringing it forward from the United States. Guests could now not only witness as technology and art intersect with each carefully-curated background, but also interact with it.
Win a dream bag of goodies
It’s not a fairytale adventure without walking away with a loot full of goodies! Simply make sure to use the hashtag #22storiessg when posting up your best photos on Instagram, and a monthly winner will get their hands on this memorable gift. So what are you waiting for?
