Mention Montigo, and most Singaporeans will think of Montigo in Nongsa, Batam, which has won hearts with its luxurious beachfront villas just 30 minutes away from our concrete jungle. If you’re a fan and heading to Bali soon, you might want to check out the hotel group’s second property that opened quietly a few months ago in Seminyak.
Scheduled to be fully open by early 2017, Montigo Resorts Seminyak is located on the famed Jalan Petitenget and within walking distance to some of Bali’s best restaurants, bars, and boutiques. Since construction is still ongoing, you can expect some level of noise (like we experienced); nevertheless, our stay was extremely pleasant.
With four main room categories planned, most of the 48 rooms that are currently available for booking are the deluxe and premier rooms, as well as the suites. We highly recommend the Executive Suite, which is great for couples looking for privacy since it features private access via a walkway leading up to the room’s patio.
Located on the ground floor, the 80 square metre suite (861 square feet) boasts of a generous bathroom with bathtub – and more importantly, twin vanity! -, Blvgari Blue Tea bath amenities, and a plush feathered beds (either king-sized or two singles). With this much room, we’re not surprised that you can even enjoy an outdoor barbecue on the terrace, within the comforts of the suite.
Spa lovers will glad to know that the resort’s Montigo Spa will be open from 8 September 2016 onwards, with a total of nine treatment rooms, a foot reflexology lounge, and a relaxation area. Two of room categories that will be ready by the end of 2016 – the Spa Premier rooms and Spa Suites – are located next to the spa for easy access (and for the tranquility the facility exudes, too).
Food is no afterthought at Montigo Resorts Seminyak either. Tiigo is the hotel’s all-day dining venue that serves an international menu for breakfast, lunch, tapas, and dinner. That said, their specialties are still Balinese dishes like the Bebek Goreng (Rp. 130k) and Ayam Betutu (Rp. 275k for two). The former features a generous portion of half a duck with crispy skin and tender meat while the latter is a whole free range spring chicken steamed to perfection with Balinese spices. Served with corn fritters and chicken satay, the accompanying sambal matah (a mix of sautéed shallots, lemongrass, green and red chili) was to die for. Psst, in-house guests currently get 20% off food at Tiigo!
Last but not least, another thing to highlight about the resort is the excellent service and hospitality; the staff make the effort to greet you every time you enter and leave the reception area with friend calls of “Good Morning”, “Selamat Malam”, and even “Hati-Hati” (which means to take care or be careful on the road). We had a great experience, and we’re sure you will too, if you choose Montigo Resorts Seminyak.
Montigo Resorts Seminyak is located at Jl. Petitenget, Seminyak, Kuta Utara, Kabupaten Badung, Bali 80361, Indonesia, p. +62 361 3019888.
