The Arts House marks its 10-year milestone by ‘disappearing’ from the arts scene! Tongue-in-cheek yet contemplative, this event stretches out for 10 days, creating an alternate universe in which The Arts House is replaced by a dance club, a posh five-star boutique hotel, and even a mega bookstore!
Here are some events you absolutely have to go for..
The Next Page
We thoroughly enjoyed the anchor show ‘The Next Page’, consisting of the following programme – The Opening ‘Quotes’, The Historian’s Tour, The Cleaner’s Account, The Couple In The Hotel Room, and Remnants In The Dark. An immersive visual and performance show, you will be immersed in a house of re-imagined histories through site-specific acts written and performed by local talents. It was funny, haunting, extremely entertaining, and left a bittersweet feeling.
Night Walk With The Storyteller
Master Storyteller Kamini Ramachandran will take you through the secret crevices of The Arts House that were previously not open to the public. It will be an unforgettable nocturnal experience of spooky and captivating tales, heightened by food, scent, and sound. Ooh…
Writer X Writer
We foresee this will be an intense literary ‘face off’ where Singapore writers, poets, or playwrights, are paired to discuss each other’s works or riff off on selected themes. Writers include those skilled in English, Mandarin, Malay, and Tamil literature. Sounds exciting already!
Concert On The Lawn
Relax, get under the stars, roll around on the lawn, and listen out for the line-up of Timbre bands and Singapore Original Series artists, including [.gif], Gareth Fernandez, Nick Chim, and Natalie Hiong. Feel free to bring along that bottle of wine and picnic basket, you’re welcome.
Open House
As a grand finale to the celebrations, The Art House will be opening its spaces for an Open House weekend from 5 to 6 April. Visitors get to enjoy various free books-related arts activities and performances put up by the community, who responded to The Arts House’s call to organise activities for the public in the spirit of an arts commons.
The Arts House’s 10th anniversary programmes are spread over two weeks from 26 March to 6 April at The Arts House. For full information, visit www.thearthouse.com.sg.
