Lotus Root Support Group (2024) follows Miriam and Shannen, two struggling theatre-makers with shared experiences, including a love for anime, the same educational journey, and Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. Faced with rejection from insurance companies and grappling with existential questions about womanhood, they turn to theatre to cope. However, as they explore their “cyst-erhood,” they confront the possibility that their differences may be irreconcilable. Through candid discussions on living with chronic illness, the play highlights the importance of human connections amidst adversity.
