The Great Singapore Garage Sale is a community event bringing together the Island’s preloved goods at a bargain price. For locals and expats alike the Garage Sale (#GSGS) is the place for 50 years of Singapore clothes, toys, furniture, ornaments, knick knacks, electronic goods and more to find a new home for another 50 years.
With the world’s burgeoning environmental concerns, the Great Singapore Garage Sale offers an opportunity to reduce your carbon footprint and waste. Just because that dress doesn’t fit anymore doesn’t mean someone else won’t look fabulous in it. Kids grow out of toys quicker than shoes but another child is always ready to pounce on a discarded plaything. If that chair set is too old for your liking, well, others are after vintage!
Piling old things in a landfill isn’t the solution. You loved it once, someone else will love it too. You found it useful, someone else will make it work now. Best of all, sellers can make extra money by recycling unwanted items and shoppers can get a bargain!
The Great Singapore Garage Sale has been running since March 2015 with its first home at the Goodman Arts Centre. Rain or shine, it’s a family day out attracting more and more people at each event. Besides second hand bargains there’s face painting and balloon modelling for the kids, beats by DJ Seconds Crew, plus snacks for the shoppers.
