Top 5 things to do in Singapore this week: 14th – 20th April 2014

In this week’s top picks, we take a trip down memory lane with a showcase of Singapore memories plus a musical which will transport you back to your National Service Days; we challenge you to see if you’ve got what it takes to break free from an epic escape experience; we urge you to go and see a blockbuster photography exhibition and we naughtily beckon you to some Easter weekend feasting. If you’re wondering what to do this week, we’ve got it covered right here:

1. Take a walk down memory lane with ’10 For Keeps, Memories to Cherish” exhibition

Time to stir up some nostalgia with Singapore Memory Project’s showcase which will give you a chance to rummage around and reflect on some of the most cherished memories from folk like you, as well as personalities including Anthony Chen, Kumar and Najip Ali. From neighbourhoods, to school days and foods we’ve loved, it’s time to get soppy about days gone by.

“10 For Keeps, Memories to Cherish” is taking place now until 25th May 2014 at National Library Singapore, 100 Victoria Street, Level 1, Lobby. For more information about the Singapore Memory Project see here.

2.  Get Trapped! then escape in Singapore’s best reality escape room

Bored of the usual nights out? Then why not try something totally different with this intense 5D real life escape experience. Once trapped inside these Kampong Glam shophouses you’ll put your mystery solving powers to the test as you try to work your way out to freedom. This promises to be a great adventure and probably nothing like you’ve experienced before…the question is, do you have what it takes to break out of the rooms?

Trapped is taking place from 14th April – 30th May at Kampong Glam Shop Houses, 42 Kandahar Street, Singapore, 198896. For more information and to book tickets see SISTIC here.

3. Stand to attention! with Ah Boys to Men: The Musical

If you loved the movies, you can now follow Recruit Ken Chow and pals who will be singing and dancing their way through their National Service right from Enlistment Day.  Be entertained by their adventures as they talk cock, sing song and of course fight for their country lah! in this musical adaptation of Jack Neo’s blockbuster movie.

Ah Boys to Men: The Musical is showing from 18th – 27th April at Resorts World Theatre, Resorts World® Sentosa, 8 Sentosa Gateway, Singapore, 098269. For more information and ticketing see SISTIC here.

4.  Be wowed by the photography of Annie Leibovitz

Enter the world and imagination of the world’s best portrait photographer – Annie Leibovitz. Her works are bold, iconic and often downright quirky, and she has turned her lens to celebrities including Leonardo Di Caprio, Jamie Foxx, Demi Moore, Scarlett Johansson, Nicole Kidman and Brad Pitt with too many more to mention, plus held court at more fashion shoots then you can shake a stick at. Soak in close to 200 of her showstopping images in this much anticipated retrospective exhibition.

Annie Leibovitz: A Photographer’s Life 1990 – 2005 is taking place from 18th April – 19th October at  The ArtScience Museum, 10 Bayfront Avenue, Singapore, 018956. For more information and to book tickets see the ShowBiz Asia website here.

5.  Get stuck in to some Easter feasting!

Easter is here and that means two of our favourite things – loads of chocolate and general gluttony! With so many Easter brunches lined up for the long weekend it’s a tough one to call, however it’s the Easter Brunch at the Movenpick Hotel that has caught our attention for its giant chocolate bar weighing over 100kg (holy moly!) and its luscious chocolate fondue fountain – that plus a fantastically indulgent buffet brunch spread and all for only $78++ per person. We feel a food coma coming!

Easter Brunch with Charlie and The Swiss Chocolate Factory is taking place on 20th April at Tablescape, Movenpick Hotel, 23 Beach View Sentosa, Singapore, 098679. For more information see here.
