10 Things to do in Bali This Month: July 2019

This month, the summer edition of the usual parties at Bali are bigger and better; be it Finns Beach Club‘s third birthday bash, W Bali – Seminyak’s annual SPF celebration, or techno festival Gypsy Land. That said, if you’re looking for a quieter time or to learn, Bamboo U and Kul Kul Farm could teach you a thing or two.

Bamboo U Exhibition

Created with the goal of raising the awareness of bamboo as a green building material, Bamboo U will be hosting their first ever exhibition showcasing their innovative bamboo carpentry design and projects. Happening at Workshop Ubud, the opening night of the three-day event on Friday will see an introduction to the organisation by Orin Hardy and an opportunity to win a three-day experience with Bamboo U (valued at US$300). On Saturday, look forward to a model making workshop by Bamboo U architect Mike Linthon and on Sunday, Bamboo U’s master carpenter Pak Wahoe will be teaching bamboo carpentry.

Finns Turns Three

It’s party season over at Finns Beach Club! In celebration of their third birthday, everyone is invited to check out their nine stunning bars, four pools, epic sunset view on the beach front, and a special lineup featuring three of the biggest DJs around the globe – A-Trak, Golden Features, and Marc Kinchen. Finns’ EDM & dance residents such as Koyuki & Lyta and Hannah are also scheduled on the deck too.

Gypsy Land Festival Bali

One of the most anticipated music festivals to hit Bali this year with Francesca Lombardo, Roycdc, and Ramon Tapia headlining, Gypsy Land is a two-day techno and electronic extravaganza with a heavy focus on set design, costume and non-musical entertainment. Come dressed in the themes of Mad Max or Alice In Wonderland appropriate for the two different realms – the psychedelic refuge of the Wonderlands and the post apocalyptic world of the Badlands.

DEUS Bike Build Off 2019

Got a build to show off? Ride em’ over to Deus Bali for their Bike Build Off 2019! There will be a Q&A session dedicated to builders and bike enthusiasts, live music, DJs, door prizes and drink promo. The event is also supported by local and global online judges who’d be determining bragging rights for the best build on the day. Submissions close 31st July!

Ookay at OMNIA

One of the most prominent in the American trap scene, California-based musician and DJ Ookay will be gracing one of OMNIA’s Swim Into Saturdays daytime party this month. Ookay exploded onto the scene when his releases on Ultra Records charted in the top 10 of Beatport. From then on he’d continued to thrive through working with producers in electronic music, drawing inspirations from the likes of Diplo, DJ Snake and Cashmere Cat.

Bali Blues Festival 2019

In collaboration with Pregina Art and Showbiz Bali, the annual Bali Blues Festival will be rocking Peninsula Island Nusa Dua for the fifth time. The line-up is superb, with local and national musicians and bands such as Gugun Blues Shelter, Endah N Rhesa, Balawan, Bali Blues Brothers, The Bardogs, Nosstress and Nusa Dua Blues Community.

Phil Weeks at KU DE TA

Robsoul Records’ Phil Weeks has scheduled another party at KU DE TA to deliver some of his characteristic raw beats and Chicago house with good measure of hip-hop twists. A regular at some of the best clubs in the world, the Parisian DJ has released a number of EPs such as Joss Moog, Disco Riddims, Demuir – The Paris, and Lekind – Influences Vol.1..

Bio Intensive Growing with Jodi Roebuck


Another fabulous workshop at The Kul Kul Farm, this is your chance to learn how to grow more food in less space with the Bio-Intensive Growing method with farmer and educator Jodi Roebuck. Besides the theory, principles and philosophy behind the method, you’ll learn more about design considerations for your garden, intensive planting, and growing microgreens.

SPF 2019

W Bali Seminyak’s own annual summer day-to-night party, SPF, is back, and this time, it’s in collaboration with Mixmag. This year’s affair at Woobar will highlight tunes from Anja Schneider and Elekfantz, to be recorded live and shared on Mixmag’s channels. The hotel’s third series of the iconic mural activation will also be happening at this WET deck party series, featuring Julien Thorax a.k.a TRAX.
