5 Things to Do This Week in Singapore: 17 July to 23 July 2017

Forget your midweek slump, as you look forward to a packed itinerary of arts, music and theatrical events – not to forget a wholesome weekend filled with good food and equally splendid company, of course!

Interstellar with Sigha

Lose yourself in the arcane beauty of Sigha’s intricate melodies, as he takes you on a cosmic journey with his cutting-edge music and otherworldly visuals to match. Emerging from London’s thriving post-Dubstep scene in 2009, the British DJ and producer’s sound is at the same time restrained yet cavernous. Now, he’ll be bringing his radically emotive music to Singapore in a new production that seeks to redefine the live Techno performance for a modern age. Promising dynamism and cathartic release, this gig is definitely not one to be missed.

Interstellar with Sigha will be happening on 19 July 2017, 10pm – 3am, at the Kilo Lounge, 21 Tanjong Pagar Road, Singapore 088444. For more information, check out their event page here.

Pesta Raya – A Malay Festival of Arts

Indulge in the unique diversity of the Malay culture and immerse yourself in a series of captivating theatre, dance, and music performances as part of the Esplanade’s annual Malay Festival of the Arts. Look forward to a concert by the Malaysian Queen of Rock, Ella, who will be commemorating her 30th year in music, as well as the play, Main², which was commissioned for the very first Pesta Raya event in 2002. Don’t fret if you’ve got kids with you – there will also be an interactive shadow puppet performance held regularly at the Courtyard to entertain the little ones.

Pesta Raya will be happening from 20 to 23 July 2017, at the Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay, 1 Esplanade Dr, Singapore 038981. For more information, check out pestaraya.com.
