Another week has arrived and there’re still plenty of exciting events in store as February hits us like a ton of bricks. Our picks of this week’s happenings include a heartfelt standup comedy routine, a thought-provoking play, a demolition project surrounded by art and music, a pop-up at the National Museum, and a cool line-up of music-themed movies at Singapore’s most indie cinema – check ’em out!
Hossan-Ah!
TV personality Hossan Leong will be bringing his trademark one-man-many-façade performance at his latest play, ‘Hossan-Ah!’. Laugh to your hearts content as Hossan carries you through the numerous influences of his career. Also, sit back and enjoy nostalgic moments as you reminisce the good old days of the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s.
This show is running from Wednesday, 28 January to Sunday, 1 February at the Drama Centre Theatre.

Circle Mirror Transformation
Get ready for the return of Pangdemonium and their first play of 2015! Circle Mirror Transformation is a story of four different people of various backgrounds coming together for an acting class. Surprisingly, there are many twists and turns that unfold. Be a witness to the drama that envelopes the four strangers as everybody’s lives inescapably cross paths. Circle Mirror Transformation is running from Thursday, 29 January to Sunday, 15 February at the DBS Arts Centre.

Destruction & Rebirth
Destruction & Rebirth is a demolition art initiative that aims to celebrate beauty amidst chaos. At this initiative, Singapore’s growing creative scene will come together to put forward an amalgamation of art, music and food at a soon-to-be demolished building. Expect sensational art pieces, talented musicians, cool DJ’s and delicious food at this event filled with originality.
This event is happening over the course of three weekends from Saturday, 31 January to Saturday, 14 February at The Mill.

Lepak at the National Museum
The title says it all: you’re invited to let loose and chill-out at the Kuek Kakis’ first ever pop-up. Enjoy outdoor movie screenings while you have a picnic and booze. Also, Chef Damien De Silva will be feeding you hungry folks if you start feeling peckish. For shoppers, indulge yourselves at homegrown retailers showcasing their products.
This event is happening on Saturday, 31 January from 6pm to midnight at the National Museum of Singapore. Admission is free.

Battle of the Bands: The Projector
Reviving two cinema halls at Golden Mile Tower, the Projector brings together a vast selection of indie films with a pay as you please system. The last time we were there, we caught Stanley Kubrick’s cult classic, The Shining. This week, they’re rolling out the music-related movies like Yellow Submarine by the Beatles, mockumentary This is Spinal Tap, as well as Pink Floyd’s The Wall. Local band The Observatory will also see their documentary, The Obs: A Singapore Story, screened.
This event runs from Saturday, 31 January and runs till Sunday, 8 February. This music-themed week works on a pay as you please system.
