5 things to do this week: 2nd – 8th March 2015

Now that the Chinese New Year fever is subsiding, there’s a chance you might feel a little empty (and relieved) this week. Well, what’s hip and happening in Singapore will definitely take care of your post-festivity blues – here’s our pick of the top 5:

Lindsey Stirling – Shatter Me Tour

Trained as a classical violinist, Lindsey Stirling has become one of the latest sensations in the music industry with her intoxicating combination of electronic dub step, Celtic folk music, and modern classical music. Ingeniously talented and ever so graceful, get ready to rave with this California native, who was dubbed the ‘hip hop violinist’ when she performed on America’s Got Talent.

Lindsey Stirling is performing live on Tuesday, 3 March at 8pm at the Grand Theatre, MasterCard Theatres at Marina Bay Sands.

As part of World Lit by The Arts House and Singapore Writers Festival, he’ll be helping participants transform their poetry into performance with a series of writing exercises during this workshop. Lap up his genius as he shares with you different ideas and a new way of seeing the world.

This event is happening on Thursday, 5 March at 7.30pm at The Council Room, The Arts House.

Prices: $15, $10 (Concession for students, senior citizens and NSFs). Please click here to purchase tickets.

Singapore International Jazz Festival

Following 2014’s amazing debut, the Singapore International Jazz Festival makes its return at the towering Marina Bay Sands this year. The tickets might be a tad expensive this year, but they’re bringing in the best with artists like Jessie J (we honestly can’t wait to hear jazz-ed up versions of her pop/R&B songs), the legendary Bobby McFerrin, Yuna, Snarky Puppy, and Naturally 7 scheduled to headline.

The Singapore International Jazz Festival 2015 is happening on Thursday, 5 March to Sunday, 8 March at 6pm.
