Originating from the antiquated land of West Berlin, the silver screen of the Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale) has arrived in Singapore to showcase films competing for the much lauded Golden Bear – the prize awarded to the best film of the Berlinale. Feast your eyes on the various films competing for the top prize at The Screening Room, and kick off the first week of 2015 with a cinematic taste of culture.

The Golden Bears Of The Berlinale is happening from Monday, 5th January to Saturday, 31st January at The Screening Room and the movie screening schedule can be found here.

Tokyo Cinderalla Dolls

Tokyo Cinderalla Dolls
Photographed in different Japanese states, models and former Takarazuka Revue Theatre performers, Mirei Uchida and Yu Ranma are two dolls who have a longing to be real girls. Captured by the lenses of Japanese Photographer Karin Shikata, this intriguing exhibition will showcase the everyday lives of Japanese youths, while expressing the struggles of the dolls who have a limited time of being human beings, till their dreams abruptly come to an end.

Tokyo Cinderalla Dolls is happening from Thursday, 8 January to Sunday, 15 March 2015 at SPRMRKT.

Fresh from their success at the recent BRIT Awards, United Kingdom’s latest and hottest new band, Bastille, have flown over 10000 kilometres to tear the house down at Hard Rock Hotel’s Coliseum. With an armoury of synth tunes and catchy lyrics, be warned that excessive feet tapping might wear out your trustiest gig shoes.

Bastille is playing on Friday, 9 January at Hard Rock Hotel’s Coliseum at 8pm.
