Teatime Treat: Anti:dote Lounge’s Indulgent Afternoon Tea in Singapore

Opening to much fanfare earlier this year, Anti:dote at Fairmont Singapore has successfully joined the ranks of Singapore’s hippest hotel bars. But well executed cocktails and tapas aside, you can now enjoy a decadent afternoon tea made for whiling lazy afternoons away in the same sophisticated setting at the adjoining Anti:dote Lounge.
Take your pick of the three tea sets on the menu, which is complemented by a wide range of teas from TWG or a cup of Anti:dote’s exclusive Brazilian coffee blend roasted by Oriole Coffee Roasters. A different amuse bouche serves as the main highlight for each tea set, and our favourite is definitely the black truffle scrambled eggs starring in their signature Anti:dote Tea Set.
Presented in an eggshell alongside toasted brioche, this starter is perfect – not overly creamy with just the right amount of truffle. The rest of the set arrives later in an exquisite, white leather-clad chest of drawers, every tier yielding beautifully crafted, tasty treasures. Start with the warm raisin and candied ginger scones fresh out of the oven, served with Devonshire clotted cream, homemade strawberry jam, and lemon curd. Follow with the savoury petite sandwiches – the Boston lobster roll with herb mayo and Coronation curried chicken were our favourites.
Dessert junkies would be glad to know that the folks at Anti:dote have covered all bases when it comes to the sweet treats. Expect earl grey eclairs, Karukera chocolate mirror tarts, strawberry gateau and the surprisingly delish sphere that is apple delight.
In the mood for something Asian? Then go for the Oriental Tea Set, which starts off with a bamboo steamer of dim sum – shrimp dumpling, chive dumpling, and scallop siew mai – instead. But if you’re really looking to indulge, the Regal Tea Set is definitely the way to go. Not only do you get smoked salmon, caviar, blinis, and crème fraîche to whet your appetite, the set comes with a glass of Veuve Clicquot champagne.
Pssst, parents: don’t worry if the little ones are clamouring to tag along – the Children’s Tea includes kid-friendly favourites like peanut butter sandwiches, grilled ham and cheese fingers, tartlets, and chocolate-dipped strawberries.
The Anti:dote Lounge Afternoon Tea is available from 3pm to 5pm daily. The Anti:dote Tea Set and the Oriental Tea Set are priced at $38++ per set and the Regal Tea Set at $75 ++ per set. The Children’s Tea Set is priced at $15++ per set.
