Ah, reunion dinners, one of our favourite times of the year—after all, what’s more pleasing to the eye than a huge table laden with mouthwatering Chinese delicacies? It’s not just about the food though (for most of us anyway), but also for the much-needed bonding time with our family, relatives, and… in-laws? With less than 3 weeks to go before Chinese New Year, you should probably snag a table fast. We recommend 12 impressive restaurants where you can swing in the Year of the Monkey in sumptuous goodness.
Man Fu Yuan
Renowned for its authentic Cantonese cuisine, the reunion dinner slots at Man Fu Yuan have always been highly coveted. Master Chef Kwan from Hong Kong ups the ante this year with artfully crafted yu sheng creations, luxurious pots of pen cai, the signature Barbecued Whole Suckling Pig with Wok Fried Glutinous Rice and Goose Liver Sausage, and refreshing desserts such as Double Boiled Superior Bird’s Nest with Julienned Young Coconut and Scented Osmanthus Nian Gao.

StraitsKitchen puts a cosmopolitan twist on the traditional reunion meal this year with an all-you-can-eat buffet lunch or dinner, complete with their signature sustainable yu sheng. Completely halal-certified, the impressive line up includes classic Chinese dishes like ee fu noodles, traditional soups, roast duck, prosperity cakes, glutinous rice, and also Malay, Peranakan, and Indian spreads.
Alternatively, head to mezza9 for a three-course Chinese New Year set menu featuring dishes like Steamed South Patagonian Tooth Fish Fillet. A wholesome a la carte menu will also be available alongside a variety of Thai, Japanese, and Western dishes are also available.

Min Jiang
Back this year with a range of sweet and savoury dishes, Min Jiang’s culinary team have created three new yu sheng platters for those who prefer not to eat raw fish: Crispy Salmon Skin (Min Jiang), Fruity with Bacon and White Truffle Oil (Min Jiang at One-North), and Crispy Silver Bait Fish with Mock Tuna (Min Jiang). Also on the table are gorgeous classic must-trys like Braised Whole Chicken with Sea Treasures, Prosperity 8 Treasures Duck and decadent desserts such as the Durian Nian Gao Roll and garlic-shaped Wealth of Opportunities chocolate marble cake.

Red House Seafood
One of Singapore’s most iconic seafood restaurants, Red House Seafood has been bringing families together every year since 1976. Fans of the chilli crab will be psyched to know that their signature Crabs in Red House Chilli Stew in all three Annual Dinner menus, alongside dishes like Seafood Potage and Scottish Blue Lobster with Creamy Custard Sauce. A special Reunion Dinner Set Menu is available only on 7 February, featuring delicious dishes such as the traditional Braised Ee Fu Noodles with Mushrooms & Crabmeat, Stewed Ginseng Chicken Wrapped in Cabbage, and the Double Happiness Yu Sheng.

Wan Hao
Wan Hao’s newly appointed Chef Brian Wong will be tantalising tastebuds with an exquisite line-up in his reunion dinner set menus. Expect signature creations such as the tender Wok-fried Beef Cube with Black Garlic Sauce and Pork Ribs with Mandarin Orange, as well as perennial favourites like the Braised 3-head Whole Abalone and Roast Duck Marinated with Ginseng Sauce. For vegetarians, Wan Hao has a vegetarian set menu and even a premium vegetarian pen cai.

We love Jade for its beautiful and spacious interior—tall ceilings, bamboo plants, gold and wood accents—and for its innovative take on traditional Chinese dishes. This year, Master Chef Leong will be serving up familiar dishes like the Eight Happiness Gold Rush Yu Sheng with Champagne Jelly and Salmon, Eight Treasure Fortune Pen Cai, and Simmered Boston Lobster with Ginger Milk.
