8 Hipster Treats Actually Worth Your Money at Geylang Serai Ramadhan Bazaar 2017

Last year’s Geylang Serai’s Ramadan Bazaar saw the likes of watermelon volcanos, rainbow bagels, cotton candy drinks, and even poke bowls – because anything goes, right? With over 1000 stalls participating this year, expect more of the same with items catering to all tastes, from the insta-hungry to foodie connoisseurs. Here are 8 items we’ve scoped out and actually don’t mind forking out cold, hard cash for:

Not too sweet, it’s the perfect thirst quencher for the sweltering heat of the market.

Wolfberry Milk TeaGeylang Serai Ramadhan Bazaar 2017

For a healthy twist on a traditional classic, go for the Wolfberry Milk Tea, a bottled milk tea packed full of the beneficial TCM berries. Despite being soaked in the tea, the fruits didn’t impart much flavour to the drink, making for a yummy and familiar way to get your required vitamins.

Price: $4

Stall: Chapalang by Da Hai Shan, at Blk 12 Haig Rd

Starlite Unicorn MilkshakeGeylang Serai Ramadhan Bazaar 2017

The perfect drink for any unicorn lover, the Starlite Unicorn Milkshake is the epitome of excess with its marshmallow unicorn horn, gummy candy ears, and popping candy stick. The whole thing is topped off with a mountain of whipped cream and a pink balloon, so you know you’re getting the most attention seeking drink at the market.

Stall: Rainbow Works

Beef Scotch EggsGeylang Serai Ramadhan Bazaar 2017

A welcome respite from the sweet treats, the Beef Scotch Eggs by Loco Loco make for a good entrée to break up the sugary monotony of the rainbow drinks and desserts. Think a giant deep fried beef meatball encasing a runny onsen egg, served with crispy keropok and peking duck sauce – yum.

Price: $6

Stall: Loco Loco, MV 7

Raclette SausageGeylang Serai Ramadhan Bazaar 2017

Enough with drooling over the many raclette videos – it’s now time to experience the gooey cheesiness for yourself, with Raclette sausages from The Raclette Factory (yep, these guys managed to get halal-certified cheese). Pan fried sausages and baby potatoes come served with a thick layer of melted cheese freshly scraped off a cheese wheel, making for a rich, filling meal.

Price: $12

Stall: The Raclette Factory, MV 78

Roasted Gourmet MarshmallowsGeylang Serai Ramadhan Bazaar 2017

These marshmallows may look unassuming, but they pack a punch in terms of flavour. Choose from a wide range of flavours including Salted Egg, After Eight Mint, and Charcoal Lemonade, and watch them get flamebroiled on a stick for that extra layer of smoky goodness.

Price: $5 for a stick of 3

Stall: The Wicked Cream, MV 26

The Geylang Serai Bazaar is happening from 25 May 2017 to 25 June 2017, 4pm onwards near Joo Chiat Complex at Malay Village, Engku Aman Rd, and Tanjong Katong Complex.
