A Million Ways to (Get) Drunk at Royal City Avenue: Review

My fellow Bangkokians will be familiar with the extravagant nightlife on display at Royal City Avenue (RCA). One of the hottest hangouts Bangkok has to offer, RCA is teeming with hardcore party goers on a weekly basis. Before immersing myself in the world of deafening music, blinding lasers, and body-shots, I like to enjoy a few quiet pre-drinks to get the ball rolling. Located in the heart of RCA, the cosy Million Ways To Drunk has quickly become a personal favourite.

The days when beer was plain and simple are long gone. With craft beers and specialised brews being introduced so rapidly, beer geeks now have an extensive variety to choose from. As a true lover of brew, I was greatly impressed with the selection on offer at Million Ways to Drunk.

500ml of Hacker Pschorr Anno, Munchner Gold, and Sternweisse come in at 280 baht per bottle. The world famous Paulaner is also on offer in its original form (330ml) for 190 baht. The cousins, Paulaner Heffe Weissbier and Paulaner Heffe Weissbier Dunkel  go for 190/230 baht (330/500ml) and 230 baht (500ml) respectively. 750ml of Estrella Damn Inedit is a slightly pricier 550 baht while Thailand’s favourite foreign beer, Hoegaarden, will set you back 250 baht per pint.

2015 saw a rise in popularity of Indian Pale Ales (IPAs). If you’ve yet to try one, A Million Ways to Drunk stocks both Brewdog Punk IPA and Brewdog 5am Saint. Two sublime introductions for the IPA virgin.

With so many options to choose from, it was difficult to nail down a personal favourite. Although I enjoyed most of the beers in equal measure, I would have to choose the Leffe Brown (250 baht a pint); a flavoursome Belgian dark ale with strong aromas and a roasted flavour.

Friendly staff, no service charge, and a wide variety of beer in a cosy little setting – what more could you want?
