AN ACOUSTIC SESSION with: Natalie Hiong

Natalie Hong is an acoustic-pop piano-based singer-songwriter, known for her catchy melodies and personal lyrics about life and love. She has released two EPs, ‘Little Heart’ (2011) and ‘Beautiful Mess’ (2013).

An award-winning songwriter, Natalie won the love song category in the UK Songwriting Contest with her song ‘Unravelling’, as well as the inaugural Homesongs contest with her song ‘I Keep Coming Back To You’. She was twice Starbucks’ featured artist, and was the opening act for Lenka, Marie Digby and Tiffany Alvord.

Natalie was one of the acts selected to perform at Music Matters Live! Festival in Singapore, Spring Scream Festival in Taiwan and MEOW Con in Austin, Texas. She has also performed in Toronto, New York and London and has been featured on The Straits Times, The New Paper, I-S Magazine and radio stations KISS92FM, 938Live and Power98.

She has recently been nominated for Cosmopolitan Singapore’s Fun Fearless Female Award 2013 as well as M:idea Youth Choice Award.

Her involvement in music also extends to the musical theatre scene – she was the lyricist for Resorts World Sentosa’s magic extravaganza, ‘Incanto’, one of the lyricists and composers for a local dance film ‘Full Out The Musical’, and a composer for a London student musical, ‘Excess Baggage’.

Natalie will perform an intimate acoustic set at BooksActually, where she will showcase songs from her previous two albums, ‘Little Heart’ and ‘Beautiful Mess’, including her award-winning song ‘Unravelling’ (UK Songwriting Contest). She will also perform some of her newer works which have yet to be released, as well as share the stories and inspirations behind her songs.
