Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants 2015: International Chefs Jetting into Town

Whether you believe in the results of Acqua Panna and San Pellegrino’s annual snapshot of Asia’s restaurant landscape or not, chances are that you’ve heard of the awards and also many of the chefs in the running to land a spot of this seemingly prestigious list.

Well then, this year you gourmands are in for a treat, ’cause the organization will be presenting a weekend of master classes, collaborative dinners, and gastronomic debates before the awards ceremony on 9 March 2015, happening at Capella Singapore.

The New Modern – 2015 and Beyond

72-13 on Mohamed Sultan Road will be playing host this culinary conference, which will see internationally renowned chefs discussing the future of cooking and whether the Asian avant-garde gastronomy is here to say. More specifically, expect to hear Daniel Humm and Will Guidara from New York’s Eleven Madison Park to talk about creating an original dining experience. Our own Janice Wong of 2am: Dessert Bar will be demonstrating how food becomes art as she breaks free from traditional models of dessert making.

Other topics covered include the evolution of Peruvian cuisine (didn’t we say this will be a food trend of 2015?) and the transformation of food from the street to fine dining plates.

The New Modern – 2015 and Beyond is happening on 8 March 2015, 1pm-6.30pm at 72-13, Mohamed Sultan Road, Singapore 239007. Tickets are priced at $280 per person.

Maestro Dinners

We reckon this is probably the most exciting segment of the programme, since the international guest chefs will be cooking up a storm alongside our local maestros! For instance, Virgilio Martinez from Central (Peru) will be presenting dinner with French chef de cuisine Julien Royer at JAAN while Daniel Humm and Will Guidara will be joining Chef Andre Chiang at Restaurant Andre.
