Once the canteen for British troops, Colbar – or Colonial Bar – has been open since 1953 and looks like it’s been frozen in time ever since! Formica tables, retro bits and bobs and lush greenery, give this age-old brunch spot a unique, super-chilled vibe. The food is consistently okay, neither chic nor sophisticated – just no nonsense, good value food and beer. Don’t go expecting gourmet food and attentive customer service, but if you like something authentic, simple, honest and rustic, definitely check it out.
