FAR by Wayne McGregor

Wayne McGregor and his company make their long-awaited debut in Singapore with FAR. A prolific dance maker and the first contemporary dancer to hold the position of Resident Choreographer at The Royal Ballet (UK), McGregor’s anatomy-defying choreography, which brings together dance, science and technology, has fuelled a string of truly unique works. FAR is no exception.

Inspired by the Age of Enlightenment, FAR mines an era where mind-body relationships were examined in a new light, a time where reason and science prevailed. McGregor translates this rich period into a dance of pure physicality, with heart-stopping tension, sensuality, beauty and ineffable delicacy.

Light and shadow (by rAndom International and Lucy Carter) are equal performers in shaping FAR’s mesmerising environment. Against a pulsating circuit board of 3,200 LED lights, 10 incredible dancers confront the 18th century’s searing contemporary sensibility against a haunting score by the critically acclaimed composer Ben Frost.
