Musicity Singapore 2014

Global movement is grooving spaces, one city at a time

Musicity, the global music programme that celebrates a city’s music and urban design, will once again groove its way to Singapore from 25 April to 10 May this year. The event will showcase local musicians and spoken word poets who will perform in selected locations in Tiong Bahru Estate, a neighbourhood known for both its high ‘trendy’ quotient and heritage. It is where the old and ultra modern co-exist, and it resonates with three generations of Singaporeans: Baby Boomers, Generation X-ers and Generation Y-ers.

All participating Musicity Singaopre 2014 venues and spaces have a story to share, but only one, TBB Tiong Bahru Bar, is a space accustomed to hosting ‘live’ gigs. Two performances in the programme will be held at a private residence on Eng Watt Street. Adding even more tenor to the event are the fringe activities – with resonant community vibes – to be held at Tiong Bahru Market and Seng Poh Garden.

The other five performance venues are Bincho, The French Bookshop, Tiong Bahru Community Centre, The Fab Lab (private residence) and TBB Tiong Bahru Bar.

This will also be the first Musicity event in any city to feature spoken word poetry alongside the music. This is a concept that takes a direct message to the core of this edition of Musicity where storytelling is an integral element. The four spoken word acts were selected from the active Poetry Slam scene.

The eight Musicity Singapore 2014 artists are Seyra, The Sam Willows, Monster Cat, Marcel Lee Pereira, Marc Nair, Jennifer Champion, Nabilah Husna and Gideon + Allee.

Programme details can be found on the Musicity SIN page [here](http://sin.musicity.info/new/journal.php) and the Musicity Facebook page [here](https://www.facebook.com/musicityglobal) .

Tickets priced between $20 and $30 (fringe activities are free of charge) go on sale from March.
