With a rich history dating back to its inception in 1887 and a progressive state of mind, it is no surprise that the old and the new truly do converge at the National Museum of Singapore. Each year the National Museum of Singapore hosts a large variety of events and exhibitions, such as the awe-inspiring Night Festival and a multitude of film screenings, that pay tribute to Singapore’s visual culture from throughout the ages.
As the custodian to 10 National Treasures, such as the Singapore Stone (the earliest inscription found in Singapore) and the William Farquhar Collection of Natural History Drawings, the National Museum of Singapore also proves to be a great spot to learn more about the country’s socio-cultural history.
The National Museum of Singapore is open daily from 10am to 6pm. Admission is free for Singapore citizens and permanent residents, and the admission fee for foreign visitors is from $3++.
