A hot humid climate and a big old British Roast don’t make the perfect bed fellows, but all the same, there is something so fabulous and comforting about a great Sunday roast – whole roasted succulent chicken, beef or lamb joint, or perhaps pork, perfect roast potatoes which are crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, with all the trimmings finished off with lashings of delicious gravy. If you want something different from weekend brunch, then well, we got chomping around the island to seek out the best restaurants and cafes for Sunday roasts in Singapore – just for you!
For a roast with one of the most breathtaking views in Singapore, the only place to be is LeVel 33. A roast for those who like things on the finer side of life, we were impressed with both the selection and quality of beef, lamb, pork, chicken and even fish to choose from, all at $38++. Our favourite? The Slow Roasted New Zealand Lamb complete with all the Sunday trimmings and served with a deliciously intense wholegrain mustard jus.
LeVel33 is at 8 Marina Blvd, #33-01 Marina Bay Financial Centre Tower 1, p. +65 6834 3133. The roast is available on Sun 12pm – 3.30pm.
Cafe Melba doesn’t just offer British roasts on Sundays. A stalwart of full roasts since its inception, Irish pub Muddy Murphy’s Traditional Roast Beef boasts carved slices of prime beef in homemade gravy and served with mash potato, vegetables and, of course, Yorkshire pudding. Take your time to wash it all down with a jolly beer or two in hand – there’s plenty to choose from in their excellent alcohol menu.
