What does the The ‘Made in Singapore’ tag mean to you?

We are less than a month away from the first ever The Made in SG Market! Brought together by Makers of Singapore, the event will consist of specially curated lifestyle products- locally designed, crafted and made.
The Made in SG Market is a part-showcase part-marketplace event. Expect to sip on freshly brewed Liberty Coffee, next to exotic locally-made jams by GSH Conserves, or watch Michelle from The Gentlemen’s Press give a demonstration on letterpressing. The event is free and open to public.
Watch out for demonstrations by our makers, a cosy food corner and short-film screening section and a marketplace where you can connect with the makers behind every product!

Programme Highlights
Gourmet Food Space
Featuring our gourmet food makers, Liberty Coffee and GSH Conserves, enjoy a cup of coffee, some bread or scones with local tastebuds- inspired jam while wandering throughout the event.
Short-film Screening
Next to the Gourmet Food Space is a cosy screening area where attendees can sit back and understand a little more about craft through the 7 feature videos of makers that Makers of Singapore has put together.
Marketplace
With at least 12 makers at The Made in SG Market, take a tour of the showcases of their craft and processes behind products, feel free to talk to the brains and brawl behind re-imagining your everyday wallets, clothes, food and more.
Demonstrations
Demonstrations from some makers will also happen at different time slots of the day. Some of them to look out for are:
TINKR | With 3D Printing hitting the masses, TINKR brings us through the workings behind 3D Printers and their 3D products.
The Gentlemen’s Press | Letterpress is an age-old printing technique that is seeing a resurgence of late. The Gentlemen’s Press will take us through the intricate art of letterpress and its nuances of alignment and technique.
Forest Child | In a traditionally male dominated industry, the two female leathercrafters have stitched their way in. Inspired by their love for nature, come take a peek at the fine details of your leather goods and their construction.
Shiok | If burgeoning, fat pockets are a problem for you, there is a solution, in a very ‘shiok’ way. Join us as we explore how the skinny wallets work, how it perfectly places our essentials together in a slim-fit solution.
ABOUT MAKERS OF SINGAPORE
Makers of Singapore is the brainchild of four final-year Communications undergraduates at the Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information, Nanyang Technological University, who came together because of their shared appreciation for local craftsmanship.
It is an independent initiative that seeks to highlight independent local businesses (called makers) whose products are conceptualised, designed and made locally from start-to-finish. The group aims to raise awareness and appreciation of craft in Singapore by showcasing makers who take pride in their workmanship and have created a viable career with their talent. These crafts range from leather-making, letter-pressing, microbrewery to 3D printing.
