Abstract art, in a nutshell, refers to artworks that do not show any recognisable visual references to people, places or objects in the natural world. Composed of a visual language of colours, forms, lines, shapes and textures, it is an interpretational art form that engages and challenges the intellect and the emotions. The best way to appreciate abstract art is to let go the need to understand the artist and to tune in to your own emotional response towards the piece.

Inspired to create your own abstract masterpiece? Unleash your inner artist at this introductory art jam where you will learn basic concepts and techniques such as colour wash, dabbing, dotting and blow art. Materials including a 28cm by 36cm canvas will be provided during the art jam.
