University Cultural Centre

Officially opened by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defence, Dr Tony Tan Keng Yam on 5 September 2000, the University Cultural Centre now serves as a vibrant performing arts venue that hosts high-quality events that draw on Singapore’s rich cultural heritage and the best of international entertainment.

With state of the art facilities, it’s only fitting that the University Cultural Centre hosts similarly excellent performances. In recent years, the University Cultural Centre has been the venue of the acts of professional and non-professional Singaporean arts companies and international artistes such as the British jazz diva, Carol Kidd and Wadaiko Yamato, the Japanese Taiko drum troupe – all of which were well-received.

No matter which form of art you favour, be it contemporary music to world music or literary and visual arts, you can be assured that a visit to the University Cultural Centre will enlighten you with the artistic offerings of both the East and the West.

When Joel’s not partaking in one of his shameless eating sessions, he likes to think of himself as a sponge – absorbing the mysteries and beauty of our world – be it through a good book or a wacky jaunt in a foreign country.
