Your Weekend Itinerary to Whisky Live 2015

Whisky Live is returning at the end of November this year; if you’ve already bought your tickets, we have the highlights of the weekend for you in a convenient itinerary. On top of the 70 over brands of whisky and other spirits present available for unlimited tasting, Whisky Live has also gathered some of the best bars and restaurants to sample complimentary crafted cocktails and food creations. So if you haven’t or aren’t sure which day to go for, this should more than convince you to head over to SISTIC to get them, stat.

Whisky Live 2015

28 November, Saturday

3pm: Get in to the festival late on (a lazy) Saturday and head straight for FOC’s modern tapas offerings to line your stomach. Pair them with tasty rum cocktails from FOC and Sugarhall – just note that the food run will end at 5.30pm and the bar shifts end at 6pm.

6pm: After having fun with the rum shift, get very serious about rum with an hour-long masterclass with renowned rum expert Luca Gargano (owner of Velier) for an extra $35. Go on a rum-centric world tour, as Luca introduces rare bottles, including a bottle of 1930s Bacardi from his private collection.

7pm: Make a beeline for the pop-up bars again, because the folks at Spiffy Dapper and Anti:dote will be in the house making more delicious cocktails featuring gin and arrack (a South and Southeast Asian liquor usually distilled from the fermented sap of coconut flowers, sugarcane, grain or fruit), backed with British-inspired snacks by The Study.

9pm: Wrap up Day 1 with a whisky masterclass. Discover the art of the Dalmore – attendees will get to taste 5 expressions, including King Alexander III, the world’s only single malt to be finished in six different woods.

29 November, Sunday

11am: The early birds catch the worms…or in the case, vodka breakfast cocktails by LongPlay and breakfast by the newly opened 5th Quarter! Also look forward to Burnt Ends’ special culinary creations that utilise whisky raw materials, such as peat and malt from the Kilchoman distillery.

2.30pm: If you just couldn’t haul yourself out of bed, no worries. The next cocktail shift by Tippling Club and The Library has a Mexican theme with (as you probably guess) tequila and mezcal respectively. Pair your drinks with Mexican street food by El Mero Mero.

6pm: Love the richly sherried malt whisky by GlenDronach? Then the masterclass by the distillery’s Regional Sales Manager is definitely worth the extra $35. Nestled in the rolling hills of Aberdeenshire, GlenDronach’s rising prominence has been likened to the awakening of Scotland’s sleeping giant.

7.30pm: End the night on a high note with an exciting closing shift with whisky cocktails – using Nikka and new-in-Singapore Irish whiskey Teeling – by L’Aiglon and 28 Hongkong Street. Don’t go home hungry; Meatsmith will be present along side these bars with their perfectly smoked brisket and meat.

Whisky Live 2015 runs 28 November (2pm-10pm) to 29 November 2015 (11am-9pm) at Capella Singapore, 1 The Knolls, Sentosa, Singapore 098297. For more information on vendors, check out our features on alternative whisky brands and small batch rum labels on showcase. Get your tickets from SISTIC.
