4th Summer DanceFit Festival 2015 – ‘With Hearts, Bodies & Minds’

ODT’s fourth season of Summer DanceFit Festival will return on 23 – 27 June 2015, assembling more than 35 organisations from Arts & Cultural, Social & Welfare and Corporates with a feast of programmes that are lined-up for the community and general public.

Integrating dance, health and fitness, ODT first launched the two-week nationwide Summer DanceFit Festival in 2006, and was graced by former Minister of State – Mrs Yu-Foo Yee Shoon. Through a refreshing programming weaving dance performances, fitness, jams, workshops, exhibitions and public education, participants were encouraged to foster creative exchanges whilst experiencing the connection amongst dance/movement, health and fitness. The overwhelming response was succeeded by its 2nd season in 2008 at the Singapore Botanic Gardens, and its 3rd season in 2013 at Aliwal Arts Centre & Kampong Glam Precinct.

Aligning with this year’s theme – ‘With Hearts, Bodies & Minds’, 8 platforms are built to direct efforts to the 3 areas of focus – Heart. Body. Mind. Partnering with key stakeholders such as Tan Tock Seng Hospital, Malay Heritage Centre, National Volunteer & Philanthropy Centre, Arts Organizations & Artistes, Corporates, VWOs, & Schools, Summer DanceFit presents a wide range of activities from professional performances & workshops, wellness talks to youth engagement & aspirations. One of the festival highlights – ‘Moving Souls’ performed by various professional arts groups in Singapore will bring professional arts to the doorstep of the community through its free admission programming.

Community Arts Engagement programmes as well as heartwarming Community Spirits will witness VWOs and social enterprise(s) deliver love and care to the community which Summer DanceFit aspires to promote. Summer DanceFit Festival coincides with the aims of Aliwal Arts Centre to tap on the rich cultural heritage of Kampong Glam and bringing together the arts community, enthusiasts and the general public to explore a new frontier in performing arts.

The event will run from 23 – 27 June 2015 at the Aliwal Arts Centre & Kampong Glam Precinct.

Admission is free.
