As we approach the end of September, dance to homegrown musicians at the second instalment of Aliwal Presents, celebrate Gillman Barrack’s fourth birthday, shop local brands at a collective market, and more.
This Wednesday, Aliwal Arts Centre will be co-presenting a night of original live music in partnership with Noise Singapore, showcasing three Music Mentorship Programme mentees: Efficient Public Transport with their haphazard blend of pop melodies, driving bass lines, and Dada-esque lyrics; alternative rock quartet Faux Pas and their love for the Arctic Monkeys; and The Neptune Waves, the four-piece collective that embodies euphoria and despair in every song.
Aliwal Presents: Noise Singapore is happening on Wednesday, 21 September 2016, 7.30pm at Aliwal Arts Center. Tickets are priced at $10, available at the door. For more details, check out the event page here.
The canonical Greek story as told by American playwright Sarah Ruhl and presented by Couch Theatre. Just hours before her wedding, Eurydice meets with an untimely accident that sends her into the Underworld. Despite being split from her beloved, she is reunited with her dead Father in the Land of the Dead. As Orpheus journeys to rescue his bride, Eurydice starts to realise that the cost of living again can sometimes exceed the cost of staying dead.
Celebrate Gillman Barracks’ fourth birthday with a precinct-wide open house this weekend. Expect new exhibitions and programmes by resident galleries, guest exhibitions by the 5th Singapore International Photography Festival, and the inaugural Supermama Porcelain Festival. In true Gillman style, there’ll be F&B pop-ups, homegrown music acts, and also a live mural painting by Speak Cryptic, guided tours, and more.
