National Day week is chock full of exciting activities, in spite of the ongoing Phase 2 (Heightened Alert) restrictions. Apart from melodious performances at the Esplanade and breathtaking new installations at Gardens By The Bay and the National Gallery of Singapore, you can look forward to celebrating this National Day virtually with a fitness challenge, or even a medieval dinner by Andsoforth.

Test Your Limits at #TOGOSG56 Virtual National Day Challenge 2021

Celebrate Singapore’s 56th birthday with Singapore’s largest virtual sports platform, TOGOPARTS, as they move their #TOGOSG56 Virtual National Day Challenge 2021 online. Participants are challenged to achieve a collective distance of 560,000km before 21 August 2021. Push your limits as you contribute 56km through either running or cycling or even a combination of both. There are over 20 different achievements to unlock, and upon completing your designated distance, participants can pay a small fee to receive exclusive Finisher jerseys, pins, and medals. 

Registration for #TOGOSG56 Virtual National Day Challenge 2021 is free and will end on 17 August 2021. The event is ongoing from 18 July – 21 August 2021 and will require the Strava app which is available on the Apple Store and Google Play Store. Register here.

Feast on a Medival Dinner as You Hunt a Werewolf

Brought to you by veteran entertainment company Andsoforth, Werewolf! The Last Supper is a virtual themed dining experience. Featuring a four-course medieval dinner for two served alongside a bottle of premium Prosecco delivered to your doorstep, the event is hosted by Mayor Blackwood. Invite family and friends to join this immersion into a whimsical fantasy world as you track down the werewolf hiding amongst the dinner guests. 

Werewolf! The Last Supper is only available virtually and requires a laptop/computer and internet access. Each ticket is catered for two pax and runs for around 120 minutes. Those interested in sharing the experience must ensure that their loved ones purchase their own tickets (Up to 10 participants a session: 5 tickets). Tickets start from S$188. 

Theatres on the Bay, Esplanade Presents MUSAIC

Pianist and violinist duo Ani Umedyan and Kseniia Vokhmianina return to the Esplanade this year in another rendition of MUSIAC. Expect to be romanced by over an hour of masterpieces, from classical and romantic, to French impressionist music from the likes of Chausson, Kreisler, and Poulenc. There’s also eye candy in the form of handmade mosaic art showcased alongside the stunning repertoire.

Marvel at Antony Gormley’s Sculptures at the National Gallery

Internationally acclaimed British sculptor Antony Gormley brings his newest commission Horizon Field Singapore (2021) to the National Gallery’s Ng Teng Fong Roof Garden Gallery. The site-specific installation is complemented by three earlier sculptures, which together trace four decades of Gormley’s practice exploring the relationship between the human body and space. Visitors can walk through the vast matrix of aluminium rings and co-create their own experience.

Horizon Field Singapore (2021) by Antony Gormley is located at the Ng Teng Fong Roof Garden Gallery, National Gallery Singapore, 1 St Andrew’s Road, Singapore 178957, p. +65 6271 7000. It runs from 6 August 2021 to 31 October 2022. This exhibition is free.

Admire Gardens by the Bay’s New Orchid Haven

Gardens By The Bay’s Cloud Forest welcomes their newest permanent flower exhibit, Orchid Haven. Featuring more than one thousand exotic orchids at any point in time in permanent and rotating displays, the first of the latter is Flight of the Moth Orchid. Guests can expect to see more than ​​800 Phalaenopsis orchids of 17 taxa in a breathtaking “waterfall” of cascading blooms, in honour of the flower whose form resembles that of a moth in flight.
