Gardens by the Bay’s Christmas Wonderlandchristmas-wonderland

If you’ve yet to check out Gardens by the Bay’s annual Christmas spectacular, good thing there’s still one more week to do so. The highlights in this wonderland of festive sights and sounds include the 19.7m tall Spalliera Castel del Monte (the highest and largest luminarie in Southeast Asia), a Magical Forest full of pines and yuletide baubles, an upsized Ice Palace where you can enjoy ‘winter’ and skate in the 400sqm rink; and an all-new 25m Ice Slide and Snow Playground. There’s also a European-style Festive Market and various carnival rides available.

Christmas Wonderland is running from now till 1 January 2016, 3.30pm – 11pm daily. Admission is priced at $8, available here. For more details, check out the event page here.

Screening: Singapore Dreaming
singapore-dreaming

The first Singapore film to win three major international film awards – the Montblanc Screenwriters Award (SSIFF 2006), the Audience Award for Narrative Feature (AAIFF 2007), and the Best Asian/Middle Eastern Film Award (TIFF) – Woo Yen Yen and Colin Goh’s Singapore Dreaming tracks two generations of the middle-class Loh family as its members chase their dreams. When the patriarch wins the lottery, everyone rests their hopes on the windfall to deliver them from banal struggles, but they soon discover that pleasures derived from material wealth are as transitory as the possessions themselves.

Singapore Dreaming is screening on 30 December 2016, 7.30pm at the NTU Centre for Contemporary Art. Admission is free. For more details, check out the event page here.

Kilo Lounge presents Kaye & Yadinkilo-lounge

Surely you’ve heard that Kilo Lounge has reopened at a new venue? Industry veterans Kaye and Yadin – both known for their sonically-forward brand of house and techno – will share the decks for the very first time as they take you to the sweaty basements of Detroit and Chicago, and who knows, maybe even the outer cosmos.

One of Singapore’s most versatile musicians, Kaye’s repertoire encompasses everything from his trust saxophone and vocoder to the WEI, drum machines, and more; relying on lightning quick improvisational skills. Meanwhile, Yadin is best known for his involvement in the notoriously decadent Breakfast Club after-party series, earning a loyal following of dance floor freaks at home and abroad.

Kilo Lounge presents Kaye & Yadin is happening on Friday, 30 December 2016, 10pm at Kilo Lounge. Admission is free. For more details, check out the event page here.
