As we approach the end of September, dance to homegrown musicians at the second instalment of Aliwal Presents, celebrate Gillman Barrack’s fourth birthday, shop local brands at a collective market, and more.
Aliwal Presents: Noise Singapore
This Wednesday, Aliwal Arts Centre will be co-presenting a night of original live music in partnership with Noise Singapore, showcasing three Music Mentorship Programme mentees: Efficient Public Transport with their haphazard blend of pop melodies, driving bass lines, and Dada-esque lyrics; alternative rock quartet Faux Pas and their love for the Arctic Monkeys; and The Neptune Waves, the four-piece collective that embodies euphoria and despair in every song.

Couch Theatre presents Eurydice by Sarah Ruhl
The canonical Greek story as told by American playwright Sarah Ruhl and presented by Couch Theatre. Just hours before her wedding, Eurydice meets with an untimely accident that sends her into the Underworld. Despite being split from her beloved, she is reunited with her dead Father in the Land of the Dead. As Orpheus journeys to rescue his bride, Eurydice starts to realise that the cost of living again can sometimes exceed the cost of staying dead.

Gillman Barracks 4th Anniversary Celebrations
Celebrate Gillman Barracks’ fourth birthday with a precinct-wide open house this weekend. Expect new exhibitions and programmes by resident galleries, guest exhibitions by the 5th Singapore International Photography Festival, and the inaugural Supermama Porcelain Festival. In true Gillman style, there’ll be F&B pop-ups, homegrown music acts, and also a live mural painting by Speak Cryptic, guided tours, and more.

Collective Designs Fair
We love supporting local, and so should you! Over 30 small businesses led by talented mom-preneurs and exquisite Singapore brands will be peddling their wares over two days, offering a wide range of stylish products from home decor to premium clothing and accessories for men, women, kids, and even babies. Participating brands include Stones that Rock, Arete Goods, FROLIK Swimwear, Cote + Badt, ShopLittleMan, and Verano.

Rock ‘n’ Roll High School / 11 Years of Poptart
Calling all misfit kids! Dress up in your old ankle socks, torn pants, folded skirts, over-the-top makeup, and unkempt hair and head down to OverEasy Orchard for Poptart’s 11th Birthday Dance-athon. Your student leaders weelikeme & KiDG will be your chaperones for the night, schooling you on the wonders of indie rock, electro punk, indietronic, and power pop. Attendance is of course, compulsory.
