Hotel Review: Pullman KLCC Offers Trendy Refinement In Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur

Not too long ago, the towering hotel directly opposite the busy Pavilion Mall was the Prince Hotel, a luxurious property that primarily catered to families and business travellers. Since 2015, it’s been heavily renovated into the trendy Pullman Kuala Lumpur City Centre with two distinctive towers with over 450 rooms and suites, as well as 157 residences, featuring sweeping vistas of Kuala Lumpur’s skyline.
Location
Conveniently located in the heart of bustling Bukit Bintang, we love how easy it is to access the vibrant shopping and dining options — including many midnight supper spots in the neighbourhood. Public transport is also easily accessible, with buses and trains (the hotel is a short walk from Raja Chulan Monorail) right at your doorstep.
Rooms
With some 450 rooms for globetrotters, each of Pullman’s rooms come equipped with the latest in-room technology, which really emphasises the comfort of a contemporary home. Even then, each room category sees a stark difference in design. Our youthful Club Room on the 27th floor features a strong turquoise hue with cosmopolitan sharp lines, and it feels like you’re in an aqua-themed hotel — we mean that in a good way. At 35sqm, it’s not a massive space, but the stylish decor and smart design makes up for it.
Tinted mirrors run against the walls, joining the large flat screen TV in a seamless line on one side. The windows open out to panoramic views of Kuala Lumpur, which would be great normally if it weren’t particular hazy that month. We also get a welcome platter of fruits, and the standard mini bar with a basic coffee machine. Stretch your legs in the ample bathtub with amenities by C.O Bigelow, the oldest apothecary from America. Did we mention Pullman’s high-quality signature bedding?
Facilities & Services
We made our way to the 10th floor to discover a rooftop oasis: a relaxing garden space for lounging on in the morning (but stay away in the brutal afternoon sun!), a swimming pool, and a sizeable gym called Fit Lounge, with a full-sized punching bag, cardio machines, and an all-round view of the city. There is also an entertainment room (The Zone) that comes equipped with a PlayStation and Xbox, a club-style lounge for residence guests called Living Space. But sometimes you just want to step outside, and the complimentary shuttle bus services within KLCC really helps.
F&B
The hotel has a generous six restaurants and bars to whet your appetite. Breakfast is had next to the lobby at Sedap, which sees a good balance between Malaysian and International fare for breakfast, lunch and dinner. You get your eggs, your croissants, and your grilled hot dogs in the morning, of course, but we opt for the curries and nasi lemak instead. There’s a dedicated station for charcoal-grilled kaya toast too, and it’s as authentic as many of the chains elsewhere in the city.
An escalator from the lobby leads to innovative concoctions at Blue Bar & Cigars (like an extra-fruity Pullman Sangria) and Red Chinese Cuisine, a popular Chinese dining spot among locals. The latter does an incredible dim sum buffet on Sundays — trust us, order the wok-fried noodles and mushroom chee cheong fun. Once you’re stuffed, cool down by the Terrace Poolside Bar with a refreshing drink in hand.
