Few sneakers have had a second life quite like the PUMA Speedcat. Pulled from the archive in 2024, the slim, low-profile shoe has gone from motorsport footnote to the pair you keep spotting on the MRT, worn with wide-leg trousers, midi skirts and everything in between. Its latest chapter lands on 8 October 2026, when PUMA and ROSÉ release two new Speedcat editions in colours that lean firmly into autumn.
It’s an interesting choice for a city with no autumn to speak of. But the brown and burgundy pairs feel less about the season and more about a change in mood, moving away from the pastel pinks and ballet bows of earlier drops towards something quieter and easier to wear every day.
What’s New in the PUMA x ROSÉ Speedcat Editions
Both pairs are cut from nubuck leather, which gives the upper a soft, slightly brushed finish that reads warmer than the smooth leather or suede usually associated with the Speedcat. One comes in an earthy brown, the other in a deep burgundy, and each keeps its colour tonal from toe to heel, so the shoe looks like a single piece rather than a set of contrasting panels.
The wrapped laces return, a detail that has become something of a signature for ROSÉ’s PUMA pairs. Instead of simply threading through eyelets, the laces loop around the upper, giving the narrow shape a bit more texture and a slightly undone look. Custom branding sits on the tongue, kept small enough that it doesn’t compete with the rest of the shoe.
The campaign imagery follows the same softer direction. Where earlier Speedcat campaigns leaned on racetracks and desert roads, these shoes are shot among flowers and natural textures, closer to a walk in the park than a pit lane. It’s a fair reflection of where the Speedcat sits now: an everyday shoe that happens to carry racing heritage.
How ROSÉ Has Reshaped the PUMA Speedcat
The Speedcat started out in the late 1990s as a shoe built for racing drivers, all thin sole and narrow profile. It faded from view for years before PUMA brought it back in 2024, the same year ROSÉ joined the brand as a global ambassador. Her first PUMA x ROSÉ collection followed in August 2025, introducing the Speedcat Ballet alongside a Speedcat OG wrapped in those now-familiar laces.
Since then, the silhouette has stretched into ballet, mule and wedge variations, and ROSÉ’s versions have helped pull it further from the pit lane and closer to the kind of shoe you’d wear with a skirt as readily as with jeans. These new editions feel like a natural next step, keeping the shape recognisable while giving it a more grown-up palette.
The PUMA x ROSÉ Speedcat collection is available from 8 October 2026 at PUMA.com and PUMA flagship stores. For more details, visit sg.puma.com.
