Arts Management Associates is pleased to announce the upcoming tour of the Pacific Boychoir Academy of California to Vietnam and Singapore. The Grammy Award-winning choir will perform at such notable venues and institutions as the HCMC Conservatory Concert Hall, the landmark Hanoi Opera House, and the stunning Singapore Botanic Gardens in much anticipated concerts directed by Kevin Fox. Past tours have taken the choir to China, Brazil, and South Africa among other countries.
Known for its rich sound, the boy choir is preparing a diverse and exciting repertoire for the tour that ranges from Haydn’s Gloria and Handel’s Hallelujah Chorus to the Beatles’ Here Comes the Sun and Paul Simon’s Bridge Over Troubled Water, arranged by Kirby Shaw (full list included below). Also known for its spirituals and approach to American classics, the choir will be singing George Gershwin’s I Got Rhythm, arranged by Mark Hayes, and an arrangement of Ol’ Time Religion/When the Saints Go Marching In, arranged by Keith McKutchen and Everett McCorvey.
The choir has a unique and memorable sound, making it one of the top boy choirs in the world. The choir is often praised for its musicianship, phrasing, and talented soloists, who receive at least fifteen hours of music training every week at the Pacific Boychoir Academy, which is the only choir school in the Western United States. The choir appears frequently with the San Francisco Symphony and with the symphony has recorded an album that in 2010 won three Grammy awards: Best Classical Performance, Best Choral Performance, and Best Classical Engineering.
The event is scheduled to start at 6pm. Admission is free!
