Addictions Cafe & Remedy Bar

22 Dempsey. It seems like the venue has been cursed, with new tenants moving in, moving out, and then repeating… That is until now. Over the past 6 months, the likes of Carnivore and Addictions Cafe have moved in, making 22 a rather good spot now!

Last week I had the pleasure of heading down for lunch and sampling a variety of their dishes, by new Aussie-Vietnamese Chef Trinh Chi Quang. From first bite, you already know things have changed at 22 Dempsey, and clearly for the better.

Stepping past Carnivore, you have to admire the wide, open space surrounded by lush forestry which encompassed the area. It’s really beautiful. The sort of place where you’d imagine weddings taking place.

The food at Addictions has been divided in two, like the Chef, offering a healthy selection of Asian-inspired western dishes, as well as some straight up Vietnamese numbers.

There is really something for everyone, I was particularly impressed by their Cured Salmon Salad; mesclun, edamame and soba noodles, all tossed in a delicious orange, soy dressing. And at $18, it’s a proper, hearty salad.

For those on the meat bend, and particularly lamb lovers, give the Rosemary Lamb Burger

($23) a try. Irrespective of beef or lamb, this burger is so good, we’ve gone back to previous article about the best burgers of Singapore and given it a little mention. It’s just hench. Juicy meat patty with caramelised onions, sundried tomato, beetroot and lashings on BBQ sauce… #drools.

On the Vietnamese side of the menu, the Vermicelli with Crispy Chicken Leg, fresh herbs ($15) was some serious comfort food, and the Rice Paper Roll with Shrimp

($10) a delicious, fresh snack great for sharing.

If you’re looking for a beautiful al fresco dining experience and some excellent, reasonably priced food, Addictions is a great alternative to the other Dempsey haunts.
