#ashtag returns to immerse the 8th floor with the thumping sounds of house & techno! The final installment for the 2015 #ashtag series features local and international names in its line-up and looks set to help you end the year on the right beat.
Mei Ling Young
Born and raised in Hong Kong to a New Zealand family, Mei Ling Young started out as resident DJ at Midnight & Co. (formerly the [in]famous Yumla) at age 17. She has since relocated to Oxford for graduate school, but returns to Asia several times a year to play. Her deeply melodic, intensively prepared sets run the full gamut of electronic music: normally starting with something experimental, before moving onto deep house, UK bass and finishing off with jarring, acid-tinged techno.
Kane Ian (Dustpan Recordings, Singapore)
Kane Ian has been DJ-ing and producing deep, funky house music since the late 90’s. He has produced music on labels such as Blockhead, Clean House Music and Juiced Music to name a few, working with and releasing music alongside artists like D-t3ch, Diem, Solid Gold Playaz, Magik Johnson and the Inland Knights. Kane Ian currently resides in his hometown of Singapore where he founded and runs his own boutique house music imprint, Dustpan Recordings which has gained an international following featuring artists and remixers such as Uneaq, J.Caprice, Mr Pirated, Dave Miller, T.B.F, Sona, Dave Allison, Demarkus Lewis, Soydan and JT Donaldson. He is endorsed by brands such as X-mini, Vicoustic and Sony where his music taste and DJ sets are widely in demand with gigs all over the world. Today you can find him playing regular DJ sets at Tanjong Beach Club and W Hotel, Singapore where he holds residencies.
Yadin (SG)
When he is not out making a drunken fool of himself, Yadin likes spending his time searching for songs which have the perfect blend of weird-ness, raw-ness and sexy-ness. He also likes playing these songs for people so they can dance while he makes a drunken fool of himself.
