GALA: ASHKENAZY WITH THE SSO

Vladimir Ashkenazy returns with Dvořák’s ever popular Eighth Symphony, a sunny work blending innocence, folk melody, drama and grandeur. Joining him and the SSO will be the winner of the 2014 Hong Kong International Piano Competition held in October 2014, of which Ashkenazy is Chairman. The concert opens with Beethoven’s brilliant Overture to The Creatures of Prometheus, an otherwise forgotten ballet.
