Priscilla – Queen of The Desert

Tick (Mitzi) is a drag artist in Sydney who receives a phone call from his estranged wife, Marion, who asks him to come for their son and perform a show at her Casino in Alice Springs.
Tick recruits his friends Bernadette, a glamorous transsexual who was once the star performer at the Les Girls nightclub, and Adam (Felicia), a young and beautiful drag queen with a reckless attitude. Together with a stock of glitzy costumes and elaborate wigs they set off across the Nullarbor in a bus they christened “Priscilla, Queen of the Desert”.
Tick is dared by Adam to go for a drink in Broken Hill dressed in full drag. Initially the locals are wary but soon the whole bar is singing and dancing along with the three friends. At the end of the night the trio discovers that the bus has been vandalized and that they are still not fully accepted. After the bus breaks down Adam decides to paint it bright pink in an attempt to remove the hateful words added in Broken Hill. Bob, a mechanic, comes in rescue and soon the group is sitting in his kitchen in Woop Woop listening to him reminisce about his visit to Les Girls as a younger man. The journey continues, with Bob along for the ride.
Adam decides to go out looking for a little fun when the bus stops in Coober Pedy for spare parts, this almost ends in a disaster but Bernadette arrives to rescue him.
Eventually the three queens reach Alice Springs and Tick finally meets his son…
