National Day: The best spots to get your patriotic party on!

So, you’ve decided to stay in Singapore for the public holiday…but what to do? Well, don’t be jealous of your pals on their hugely expensive Bali breaks (did you see how pricey tickets were? good grief!) because there’s a whole host of amazing activities happening here. Whether you plan to celebrate Singapore’s 48th birthday from high in the sky, safely on the ground, fine dining or with a drink, or 3 or 4 in your hand, there is something for everybody!

For a unparalleled view and an evening of lofty sophistication, head to Stellar at 1-Altitude where their newly-launched menu will certainly have you in raptures, regardless of the fireworks happening outside! Some highlights include the simple but delicious Hokkaido Scallop accompanied by Parmesan and pear. Truffle Gnocchi and the Twice-Baked Gruyere Souffle which sounds obscenely good.

More of a beer than champagne kinda person? Ok, we got you…make the most of National Day with a fine ale, lager or craft beer in your hand at Level 33‘s penthouse craft brewery. An amazing vantage point, wind in your hair and a cold one. Happy National day!

Want to actually touch the jet-planes as they fly by? Head up to the KU DÉ TA Club Lounge which offers a breathtaking view of the National Day celebrations. Kids under 12 get free entry before 9pm, with face paint and other goodies to keep them occupied. Grown-ups will enjoy the drinks and DJ at the Sky Bar. Alternatively head to the restaurant for fine dining set against that awe-inspiring view.

If you’re after an unobstructed view but prefer to keep a little closer to earth, head to Catalunya, whose unique position slap-bang in the water offers a prime vantage point of the Red Lion’s parachute aerial acrobatics, the breathtaking fighter jets as they zoom past and the entrance of the National Flag. The only thing to distract you from oohing and aaahing will be the delicious cocktails and tasty tapas menu if you chose to sit inside, alternatively party the night away on the rooftop bar to the sounds of DJ Suren.

Kinki Restaurant & Bar is another excellent bet for great views across the Marina and you’re right up close to the action. For Japanese urban chic dining, enjoy the 5-Course Dinner with a complimentary glass of wine. Or gather an group of 8 for a serious booze session up on the roof where for $600 (which includes entry) will get you two bottles of Moet & Chandon Brut Champagne, one bottle of Belvedere Vodka with three mixers, and eight shooters. You may not remember much afterwards though!

If you’re winding down from the celebrations but all that kicking up your heels has left you with a bit of a hunger, don’t forget Fordham & Grand are open until 3am serving up yummy alchohol-absorbing dishes, or just throw caution to the wind (it’s a celebration after all!) and knock back a few more bevvies.
