Out of Sight Festival – the only place to be on 23rd Feb!

There’s nothing more we love to prove at City Nomads, than the fact that our island is awash with all sorts of creative talent and artistry. But hey, we’re not the kind to just talk the talk, yeah you know, we love to walk the walk too!

And that’s exactly what our forthcoming Out of Sight Festival on Saturday 23rd February is all about. Once again we’ve joined forces with our rock steady, crazy partners in crime – the artist collective We Jungle to bring you a day to night party that will showcase some of the unseen talent our island has to offer.

But there’s another story here. As we see places that we know and love give way to commercial redevelopment, this too will be the final farewell to Telok Ayer Performing Arts Centre…an arts hub, a former old school, home to festival partner Word Forward… and soon to be just another memory. So let’s see it off with the bang it deserves!

So what exactly can you expect from Out of Sight?

The visual

With over 10 artists who will be turning the space into an artistic wonderland on the day, expect to find surprises around every corner, artists creating on site, right before your very eyes, in a variety of mediums, challenging the way you see things, and most of all…prepare to expect the unexpected.
The bands

Keeping things live on the music side will be three awesome local bands, each different in style from post rock, roots, reggae, ska and more….
The DJs

Get set for an awesome line up of 6 DJs spinning everything from samba, bossa, Balkan music, hip-hop, funk, soul, boogie, disco, breakbeats, house, reggae, ragga, dub, jungle, drum n’ bass, electro and general awesomeness.

The spoken word performers

Open up your ears to hear poetry as you’ve never heard it before. Four spoken word performers will go back to back with the DJs, twisting words over beats live to spine-tingling effect.

So it’s obvious right? No other place to be on the 23rd February. You know we love to throw a good ol’ party…and there’s nothing we do better…well, apart from write awesome articles and snuffle out those hidden gems for you ;).

N.B. Out of Sight is a BYOB/mass picnic event so bring your bottles, food, rugs and friends and we’ll do the rest!

Out of Sight Festival is on 23rd February, 2pm til late at Telok Ayer Performing Arts Centre, 182 Cecil Street, 069547. Entrance by donation, drop some bills, give as you please. For more information and to RSVP see here.
