Rubbish hair? Calm down and head to The Panic Room CLOSED

Gentlemen….should you find yourself in the centre of a hair emergency…bad haircut…no haircut…botched home attempt haircut…went to a leading high street hairdresser and ended up with their ‘one style suits all’ haircut….then DON’T PANIC!!!!

The new ‘we’re not trying to be cool, we just happen to be cool… very, very cool’ barber shop on Neil Road, The Panic Room will soothe your hair troubles and leave you looking like a suave Mad Men extra or James Bond-esque dapper…and seriously, who doesn’t want to look like James Bond?

Having started out as a web store, the boys from Heist (who by the way we LOVE ever since they saw our Nomad mascots, a blonde Spaniel called Reishi and little Schnauzer called Meg and gave them the most bad-ass haircuts of their lives!) decided that The Panic Room should be a safe house to run to in the wake of hair-tastrophes in Singapore…and let’s face it, there are a lot. If I see one more mullet…well, I just don’t know what I’ll do.

The concept is simple, good products, great haircuts and probably slightly random enlightening conversation because those boys are a mad bunch! But the idea is to re-establish the barbershops of old where really, it wasn’t so much a hairdressers but more of a community club for men to pontificate about life, moan about their women and right the world’s wrongs!

Whether you’re looking for a classic snip, a mere trim or something altogether a bit more wild, the boys have you covered. And, as well as offering a great haircut, The Panic Room offers an excellent selection of tools for the modern man to keep his barnet under control, with a focus on pomades which are apparently a god-send in Singapore’s humid climate because they style the hair by keeping it slick, neat and shiny as opposed to thick, out of control and slightly bouffant.

Whether you’re fighting the frizz (it’s ok boys we know you have crazy humidity fro’s just like us sometimes!) or doing some gravity-defying hair sculpture, their tried and tested pomades are weather resistant and street ready, and all from smaller independent brands which we like. And while I’m not going to discuss the finer points of each pomade, lets just say that Mr Heh Zee was quite taken with the Shiner Gold brand- a gold-coloured pomade with holiday scent of coconut and almond so you smell like a tropical breeze! Your very own Malibu man.

As our very own guest writer Style and the Dandy quite rightfully pointed out:

“The barber shop remains one of the last vestiges for masculine refuge in today’s metrosexual and androgynous social frame. It becomes increasingly difficult to find a straight forward barber who can do a simple ‘short sides and back’, with most barber shops more focused on branding and marketing themselves to look as savvy as the ‘chain gang’ multinational hair brands of Europe. ”

We love the Panic Room for being totally unpretentious, the real deal, home-grown and totally charming…and heh if they can do something about all the truly appalling haircuts walking around Singapore then someone give those boys a medal!
