Singapore Street Festival (SSF) returns for its 13th year and is bigger than before!

Themed ‘Super Duper Youth’, this year’s festival line-up encompasses a series of electrifying youth dance, movements and singing competitions, workshops and performances.

This June will see SSF 2014 kicking-off with a Supa Hip Hop Show as the official launch, followed by an exciting 3-day Supa Hip Hop Weekend, featuring all the best Breakdance performances in the world here in Singapore for the first time – Freestyle Session (FSS), Battle of the Year (BOTY) and R16 by performers from USA, Germany and Korea respectively. Along with these world class performances are competitions, where FSS Champion will represent Singapore in USA Finals, BOTY Champion will represent Singapore in BOTY South Asia and R16 SEA Funk Style & Crew Champion will represent Southeast Asia in Korea R16 finals.

Highlights of this year’s festival include a showcase for the first time, Parkour performance, Urban Live Free – A Parkour Generation, to be held at Bugis+ where participants will have a thrilling experience learning how to climb and compete with each other with gravity-defying moves.

Workshops prior to competitions are also available to Urban Freestyle Street Football & Panna Street Football enthusiasts to further fine-tune their planned and synchronized moves. Winner of the competition will walk away with cash prizes. Aficionados will also get the chance to get up close with SSF new mentor, world champion and one of the world’s iconic Freestyle Footballer, Nam the Man.

The festival gets glitzier as the all-stars Bellydance Masters Anastasia Biserova (Russia), Sujee and Min San (both from Korea), perform at the Asia Global Bellydance Singapore & Asia competition. Champions from Professional category will represent Singapore to compete in Seoul, Korea in Oct 2014.

Also set to send hearts racing is the Fantabulous Magic Challenge where trainees adopted by new SSF Mentors Jeremy Pei, a multi award-winning international illusionist, and Alex Tan, one of Asia’s most sought-after Magical entertainers, will compete in reality TV style. Contestants will be judged based on originality, technique ability, overall performance value, and so on.

Other exciting acts featured in SSF 2014 include SSF Street Graffiti Competition and Showcases, WoW! The Street Festival Award 2014 – Jrock Band Competition and D’J Party.

Finally, rounding up the festival will be the popular Asia Global Bellydance Competition, along with the Masterclass sessions, and the Singapore Yoyo Competition and the Asia Pacific Yoyo Competition.
Since its inception in 2002, this highly successful yearly event provides a platform for both our local and regional youths to showcase their talents, skills and abilities in the genre of performing and visual arts, technology and sports. Youths are encouraged to participate in dancing and singing competitions, performances as well as workshops conducted by world-renowned and award winning artists.
