Snow City Singapore Transforms Into Winter Wonderland with a Nordic-Inspired Ice Hotel Gallery Experience

We’re sure that Snow City Singapore rings a bell. Most of us have fond memories of visiting the snow chamber when we were children, simply waddling around carefree and frolicking in the snow. Available all year around, the local snow experience was likely our first contact with sub-zero temperatures in Singapore.

Spanning a whopping 3,000 square metres, Snow City maintains the 400mm depth of snow within the chamber by generating up to 150 tonnes of snow on-site using a specially-designed snow gun. Last week, the 21-year old attraction unveiled a brand new exhibit that takes inspiration from Nordic ice hotels, amidst other exciting new features. Here’s the lowdown:

Ice Hotel Gallery

Think Finland, Sweden or Norway; imagine all the beautiful iconic ice hotels that grace their tourism websites. Snow City’s latest permanent exhibit, Ice Hotel Gallery, puts the organisation’s spin on that, affording Singapore-dwellers an instant getaway to a Nordic wonderland without the hassle of travelling and PCR tests.

Created with the support of Singapore Tourism Board’s Experience Step-Up Fund, Ice Hotel Gallery stretches across a 17-metre snow field. Boasting five thematic ice and snow art installation zones by local acclaimed artisan Jeffrey Ng, look forward to an Ice Bar serving up cold cups of polar magic, a frosty Dining Area with intricate ice home decor, and a Hotel Room decked out with fur blankets a la Game of Thrones.

Ice Bar And Dining Room

Start your visit to the Ice Hotel Gallery with a drink at the Ice Bar. When braving temperatures measuring at -5 degrees Celsius, enjoying craft beer from funky hand-carved mugs of ice is just the ticket while soaking in the surroundings of floral and fauna intricately sculpted to perfection. Due to current restrictions, the bar isn’t open to the general public, so write in to enquire how you can book a private ice bar session!

Adjacent to the Ice Bar is the Dining Room, the ideal spot for the ‘gram. Set against a bold animal paradise backdrop illuminated by alternating lights that comes pretty close to the magical Northern Lights, the space is decked out with dining chairs and tableware entirely carved from ice. Feel free to book the venue out for photoshoots, take things to a whole new level with a Frozen-themed solemnisation.

Hotel Room

Finally, the Hotel Room gleams with local touches. In addition to ice beds, pillows, and other furniture found in regular hotel rooms, bask in the glorious sights of ice sculptures of peacocks and local flowers that add a magnificent glow to the space. Snow City’s Ice Hotel Gallery might not be the staycation as we know it, but this daycation experience at sub-zero temperature is worth the trek to Singapore’s west.

The Ice Hotel Gallery is a permanent exhibit at Snow City Singapore. Priced at S$17, tickets include access to other features. From now to 31 Dec 2021, Snow City is running a Buy More, Save More promotion with up to 20% savings for the “Snow Play Session + Drift on Ice Bumper Car” package purchase on their website. Full priced tickets are available on Klook and are SingaporeRediscovers Vouchers eligible.

Guests who purchase bundles will receive a 10% discount on merchandise at the retail shop. Jackets and boots are provided, gloves and insulated pants can be rented for a small fee.

Complete Your Snow City Experience

Yearning for a White Christmas? Check out Snow City’s Artic Snow Slide and The Snow Playground, designed to be caricatures of the calm and tranquil suburban outskirts of countries experiencing winter. Included in the general admission ticket, there’s nothing too extravagant about this zone, but you’re bound to feel like a kid again while going down the 60-metre long snow slope on your cushy snow tube.

Everyone’s favourite carnival attraction takes a snowy spin at Snow City with Drift On Ice. The ice bumper car ride is encircled by walls featuring ice-capped mountains, and the whole bumper ring comes alive with blue, purple and pink lights every time a new game begins.

Snow City also offers other activities that’ll get your adrenaline pumping at the Winter Shooting Arena. For an additional fee, warm up at the Target Shooting Gallery, taking down paintball markers, before challenging friends and family to a Close Quarter Battle.
