Cocktails in the Sun: 8 Beach Clubs to Hit in Phuket, Thailand

Phuket is slowly building up its beach club scene, with ultra-chic establishments popping up along its golden coasts. While stylish interiors and a postcard-perfect beachfront are common across these venues, each has its own charm and unique amenities to draw the crowds in. Here’s a glimpse of some of the best that the island has to offer:

Akyra Beach Club Phuket

Lazy, leisurely afternoons are best spent at a place like Akyra. Unlike the more popular beachfront establishments located down south, Akrya isn’t frequented by hordes of expatriates or vacationers, so you’ll get to enjoy the best of the venue’s peaceful ambience and luxe amenities. There’s a freeform pool for refreshing mid-day dips, and a pool bar manned by Akyra’s master mixologist to keep you well hydrated through the day. Delicious food and excellent service helps round out an enjoyable experience at this elegant venue.

Akyra Beach Club Phuket is located at 2 / 7 Moo 5, Natai Beach, Phuket, p. +66 76 592 500.

HQ Beach Lounge

The ultra-chic HQ Beach Lounge is venue of choice for the sophisticated. It’s quiet and discreet, thanks to the isolated location and surrounding woodland that add on to the venue’s sense of privacy. Seating options are aplenty – from sun mats set under towering trees and stools encircling the central bar, to pillowy sofas and beachfront cabanas. The drinks selection here is wonderfully extensive, featuring an impressive variety of cocktails, as well as a collection of old and new world label stocked in HQ’s very own wine cellar.

The venue contains a dining area, bar, terraces built into a rocky coast and a beachfront lounge scattered with large cushions and low tables. By day, Iguana stays relaxed and casual with soft R&B tunes, but as dusk falls the atmosphere is transformed with lively beats. And twice a month, the venue comes alive with DJs and a vibrant crowd of partygoers.
