Wings World: American nostalgia and chicken wings!

I firmly believe that the only reason chickens even have wings is so we can eat them… I mean, it’s not as if they fly or anything…and damn are they tasty! Apparently so do the owners of Wings World in East.

For my usual post night-out 3am snack, I’m sure I’m not alone in heading down to the nearest food court and grabbing half a dozen or more wings and just sitting there happily munching away as my hands get covered in chicken grease, chilli and calamansi juice.

However, from spending over 6 years of my life in the US, I do get rather nostalgic for good old American buffalo chicken wings. Spicy, crispy and served with cool, refreshing (and massively fattening) blue cheese dip. There’s perhaps only a handful of places that do it well in Singapore but there’s one place that has just opened up in the East that hits the chicken wing spot dead on – Wings World. Yes, that is the name of the eatery. As you can imagine, they specialise in… dun dun dun CHICKEN WINGS….!

Diving straight into tradition, I ordered a healthy plate of BBQ and Buffalo wings #drools.

When it arrived, as soon as the aroma penetrated my nose, I already knew it was going to be good. And then, after first bite, the full-on assault began.

Crispy, flavoursome exterior and soft, moist chicken meat underneath. Yes, that’s it. And the blue cheese sauce. Exactly how I remember from my time in the U, S of A.

After sampling the staples, I moved on to the more adventurous flavours like ‘Italian herbs‘, ‘Asian zing‘ and ‘Mango habanero‘. All of which were decent in their own right, but the BBQ and Buffalo were the stars of the show and those are the ones I’ll be ordering when I next go back.

Despite arriving with only a ‘small’ appetite, I managed to wolf down at least a dozen of these bad boys – and I could have continued if I wanted.

More and more places are opening up in the East and Wings World is a great example of the ‘Easty vibe’ – laid-back, casual, great value foodie finds. If you are a chicken wing fanatic, check this place is ASAP. You will not be disappointed.

Half a dozen chicken wings (any flavour) costs $5.95 or $9.35 for 10 wings.
