It’s a week of non-stop music and partying as the city’s top musicians and beatmakers come together for a series of highly-anticipated gigs and parties – including one celebrating the local LGBTQ+ community. And in the spirit of Christmas, don’t miss your chance to do good by feasting on Sri Lankan street snacks and beers at Park Bench Deli’s latest fundraiser, because all those calories have gotta be worth something, right?

A Double Bill: The Steve McQueens x WONK (JP)

Two bands at the forefront of modern soul and jazz in one night? With gripping magnetism and a seductive cool, The Steve McQueen’s music is a wild tumble of electric soul that’s sexy as heck. Since their formation in 2013, they’ve gone on to release several albums, including TERRARIUM this year, and even performed at the likes of the legendary O2 Arena. Then, there’s WONK, the popular experimental soul band from Tokyo that’s received the Best Jazz Album award at the CD Shop Awards, played in the iconic Blue Note Jazz Festival and Tokyo Jazz Festival, and also toured in Berlin, Paris, and beyond.

Cheek by Jowl x Park Bench Deli: Break Breads Not Backs

The last pop-up at Park Bench Deli is gonna be big. After working with the likes of Hong Kong’s now-defunct cult bodega Sunday’s Grocery and Vietnam’s Le Garcon Saigon,  the upcoming will feature Chef Rishi Naleendra of Michelin-starred Australian restaurant Cheek By Jowl. Proceeds from the event will go in support of the Happy People Helping People Foundation for elderly cardboard collectors in Singapore so come support the cause with Rishi’s fantastic Sri Lankan street snacks and outstanding beers from Australian outfit Pirate Life Brewing.

Urban Ventures Street Party X House of Noise 2017 

In the most sonically driven edition of Urban Ventures to date, the good folks at Lopelab are collaborating with Noise Singapore to showcase the best rising music talents in Singapore across three stages. With 19 bands and 13 DJs ready to rock your world, look out for names like Banana Suicide Forest, RETROFOCUS, Test The Divide, Jamie Chong, Sarah Ann Wee, and Abby Simone. Of course, it isn’t Urban Ventures without their signature artisanal market, which goes full Christmas with brands such as Monument Lifestyle, Hush Candle, PLAIN SUPPLIES, SOAMI, and Out & Ink. Plus, expect yummy grub by Wine & Chef, Bao Makers, DON HO, and Lime House, as well as a pop-up barber and free beauty services on site.

Do You Remember The First Time? 12 Years of Eatmepoptart

Has it been 12 years of EATMEPOPTART already? As nostalgic drunken nights, fights, hugs, and lost loves fade into memory, come get together again for their spectacular 12th birthday party with headliners Supersect and Sobs – two of the most promising local bands of the year – alongside DJ Thievves, Tom Shellsuit, and Zhan. That’s right, we’re talking about San Francisco’s much-acclaimed Chi Chi BOOM, where the LGBTQ+ community and allies can come in your full queer, gender-nonconforming authentic self and be welcomed by those who see and love you. Grab a rummy drink and vibe to island tunes by DJs Maksibs, Shellsuit, and Kokiri Kid, because the night’s only going to get hotter and hotter.
