This week, art lovers can expect an exciting exhibition from established artist and writer, Yayoi Kusama as well as a group exhibition showcasing budding artists at The Private Museum. For the plain hungry and thirsty, check out the farmers market down at Loewen Gardens and Campari’s Negroni Week. Plus, Ultra Singapore is back (need we say more)!

Yayoi Kusama: Life is the Heart of a Rainbow

Since the tender age of 10, the ‘Polka Dot Princess’ has been using art to deal with mental health problems. Yet, despite these nervous disorders and hallucinations, the 88 year old Japanese artist has continued to impact the world with her influential perspective. Her highly anticipated exhibition is finally arriving in Singapore, bring with it more than 120 of her works, including never before seen paintings, sculptures, videos and installations. Don’t miss the chance to take part in the curatorial roundtable, various workshops and other programmes in this show that’s perfect for the whole family.

In conjunction with a new initiative to support and encourage the development of young artistic talents in Singapore, a group exhibition will take place to display the works of 8 new artists, through paintings, prints, photography, videography, and installations. Amongst those are Ben Yap, Brenn Tan, Izzy Tan, Jackson Kang, Odelia Tang, Quinn Lum, Rafi Abdullah and Tristan Lim. The exhibition focuses on variations, whether it’s through spoken exchanges, cultural ideologies, social landscapes, identities, even human psyche.  Come on down to be part of their debut into Singapore’s art scene.

Farmers Market at Loewen Gardens

Reminiscent of the flea markets down under, kick start your day with a nice cuppa joe and a fresh pick of produce at the farmer’s market. Regular vendors like Organic Himalayan will be back to bring you a fine selection of organic vegetables from Nepal, while Papas Grove graces the event once again with their prized Greek olive oil. Melbourne Specialist International School will also be manning a table where their staff and students are set to sell artwork, cards, fans and bookmarks to raise money for the school. Expect these vendors and a whole lot more at this refreshing weekend affair not to be missed!

Ultra Singapore 2017

A yearly event that needs no introduction, Ultra Singapore is back for another two days featuring a lineup of award-winning DJs, thumping beats, and brilliant pyrotechnics across all three stages. Last year brought over 45, 000 ravers from 67 countries to the ULTRA Park in Marina Bay, and we’re pretty sure that this year will only get bigger and better. Party to the all-time favourites Tiesto, Nicky Romero, Hardwell and Steve Aoki, but keep a look out for artistes like Rich Chigga and Anna.

Campari’s Negroni Week 2017

Back for its third edition and set to break the record of the past two years, Negroni Week will see more than 60 bars mixing up classic Negronis or variations of the classic cocktail in a combined effort to donate a portion of their proceeds to a charity of their choice. The cocktails are nothing short of creative this year, with ingredients like fairy floss, Japanese strawberries, marmalade, and cinnamon rolls through in for good measure. Campari’s Negroni Week 2017 is happening 5 June to 11 June 2017 at over 60 bars across the island.
