5 Things To Do This Week in Singapore: 6th to 12th March 2017

This week, there is something for everyone. Join French group La Femme in some punk rock music, enjoy a tipple or two while watching female bartenders of Asia compete for ‘Miss Speed Rack Asia 2017’. French Krautrock and psych-punk group La Femme will be making their debut performance in Singapore! Last year, the sextet was invited by Red Hot Chili Peppers to open the legendary rock band’s 2016 European tour, making La Femme one of the biggest new sensations to ever come from the French music scene. Singaporean noir pop duo, TOMGIRL, will be opening the night.

La Femme Live is happening on 7 March 2017, 7pm at *SCAPE The Ground Theatre. Tickets are priced at $70, available via Ticketbox. For more details, check out their event page here

Boutiques: Spring 2017IMG_8812

A bi-annual shopping event that brings together a curated mix of over 150 independent vendors across women’s fashion, menswear, jewellery, bags, and accessories, this edition of Boutiques is held in conjunction with the Textile and Fashion Federation Singapore (TAFF), and is also part of Singapore Design Week. Come on down and enjoy the visual feast while doing a little shopping!

‘On Sharks and Humanity’ At Parkview Museum

‘On Sharks and Humanity’ is a travelling exhibition that brings together over 20 artworks from artists around the world and features a selection of works from Singapore. The exhibition of Artists in Action addresses the pressing environmental issues of shark protection and ocean conservation, and is happening at the new Parkview Museum. Why not make a day of it and out in the Bras Basah and Bugis art and cultural precinct?

Promoting intercultural dialogue and celebrating the diversity of the French language and francophone communities around the world, The Francophonie Festival is bringing a series of cultural events. With no less than three concerts, seven films, and a landscape art exhibition by Hanibal Srouji and Tania Nasr, there’s something for every Francophile in Singapore.

In light of International Women’s Day, international female bartending competition, Speed Rack, will be making their Asian debut in Singapore.  Open to all female bartenders in Asia, Speed Rack Asia shines the spotlight on women in a typically male-dominated field. The twenty participants – 14 from Singapore and six from the rest of Asia – will be going head-to-head in speed and aptitude challenges. Funds raised by the competition will go to the Breast Cancer Foundation so come by for drinks (cocktails going at $10) and food by Park Bench Deli.
