Review: 5th Quarter’s Free Flow Cava Brunch

5th Quarter Brunch Tasting

We’ve already experienced the goodness that comes out of Chef Drew Nocente’s kitchen at 5th Quarter; so when we heard that the restaurant was launching an all-you-can-eat Sunday brunch, we couldn’t be happier to head back to try his rendition of comfort brunch food.

Oyster, Brandade & Caviar

With 13 savoury dishes and three desserts on the menu, the best – and easiest – way to get started is to order everything on the menu! Just note that the dishes labeled premium – the Oyster, Brandade & Caviar, the Clams, Garlic, Toast, and the Grilled Prawns, Garlic & Chili – are limited in quantity, so you can pretty much only order them once. While the delicious prawns were huge (almost the size of my hand) and grilled perfectly, but my top pick of the three would be the clams, soaking in their savoury, flavourful broth.

Smoked Maple Bacon & Pork Hash

This still leaves you with 10 other plates that you can have unlimited helpings of. While we enjoyed the Housemade Sausage & Mash, Portobello Eggs, and Chef’s house-cured Charcuterie Platter, dishes worthy of a second order include the Fried Chicken & Pancakes, Smoked Maple Bacon & Apple, Pork Hash with poached eggs, and the Chorizo Eggs.

Although that savoury food overload might leave you in a food coma, be sure to save some space for dessert because all three of them – Chocolate Lollipops, Banana & Sesame Cones, and Pineapple, Coconut & Brittle – are winners too.
